Guest guest
‘Ideological conflicts must be avoided in education’ HT CorrespondentIndore, December 11 UNION HUMAN Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh has called for bringing about changes in the education system to avoid ideological conflicts. He was addressing the gathering at the silver jubilee celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar here today. He said extremists have tried to saffronise the education pattern, but felt that the education system should be based on the guidelines given in Constitution of India, which were inspired by the vision of the freedom fighters. Speaking on the anomalies that have crept into the education system, Singh said the old, value-based education pattern could be reestablished if proper laws are implemented. He said India has tackled various problems in the past by mutual trust and faith of the people in one another. This faith needs to be brought back and this can only be achieved by value-based education. School convener Dr Ramesh Baheti gave a brief history of the school on the occasion. He said that the school began in rented premises in 1980 in Manoramaganj with an aim of imparting education based on moral and human values. He said the idea of Sri Sathya Sai Baba that education without good character is worthless still holds true. http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/5922_1148852,0015002100000002.htm
