SAI PHILOSOPHY: SAI PHILOSOPHY FROM THE DIARY OF SAI.BA.NI.SA. These messages are the outcome and essence of the dream sequences of Saibanisa as given by Lord Sainath, which reflect the Sai Philosophy and his high thinking. They carry a sense of deep meaning and are generally thought provoking, enough to set one's thinking process. Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY. 160) 21st July 1994: Difficulties are like dirt to our clothes, wash and wear them again. Do not get disappointed when some thing bad happens and do not get over joyous when good things happen to you. 161) 05th July 1994: Man should desire to live in peace. Peace and happiness come from within. 162) 11th August 1994: I shall happily accept a toddy fruit fallen to ground instead of freshly purchased oranges. 163) 2nd September 1994: Animal is useful to mankind whether dead or alive. Where as a man is not useful to any body after death. A man therefore should be useful to his fellow beings at least during his lifetime. 164) 13th September 1994: Look for me in the mirror. I shall show you my real self, and gaze at you without blinking. 165) 17th September, 1994: An orphanage built in my memory on the road side is the temple which gives me an opportunity to serve the children of 'LORD', and in return gives you the good will for the noble gesture. ---- ------- 5. SAI IN DREAMS: SAIBANISA IN SAI UTSAV – 2000- Chicago – U.S.A DISCOURSE BY SAIBANISA GOPALA RAO RAVADA - SAIDARBAR, HYDERABAD - INDIA. PART – TWO: If we scientifically attempt to analyze the dreams, the mind in practice merges with the universal mind. And a try to find out what it is able to visualize. This is the state of meditation or Mind projection. Try to project or elevate your mind before going to bed and you will certainly be answered for the projection you have made. The person practicing Telepathy need not necessarily be a celebrated YOGI. It can be any body, either you or me too. Sai has very rightly assured that -. "Think about me, ask me with faith and I am here to answer all the calls". I would rather recommend you to Practice to open a page from SATCHARITRA with closed eyes, after offering prayer to Baba. You are then sure to find an answer for the problem placed before him. This exercise is analogous to the selective tuning of the TV - CHANNELS to the one you desire to watch. It can therefore imply that there exists a solution for every problem in the World. In modern times Scientists from UK&USA were engaged in conducting research on dreams and Parapsychology. They all came to a common platform of understanding that there exists a kind of super natural power behind the process of dream and Telepathy. The graphical representation of the state of mind monitored in both the processes resembled with that of the one's obtained with ECG (ELECTRO CARDIO GRAM). They tried to co-relate the state of mind with; the signals receive versus the nature of the dream with which a person is encountered. Interestingly the findings are that those, who had peaceful dreams had smoother graphs and vice-versa those who underwent wild dreams have recorded higher blood pressures, Heart beats, quick respirative actions and resultantly more, blood circulation to the brain. They found all to have exhibited similar conditions as a person does when he is fully awake except that they are with out senses. It is in this state, the sixth sense commences to work. It is understood that it scientists working in the related fields - are still not successful in recording dreams on VCR or receive the Telepathy signals on RADIO. It is reported that Scientists from UK have successfully Tele - transported the shadows of objects from one Room to another Room in an atmosphere charged fully With Electrons. In ancient times, the great Sages and Saints performed `THAPASYA' for years together and were ordained with super-natural powers. They were quite successful in charging their surroundings and establish connectivity with the almighty. The modern Scientist on the same lines developed the Electron Beam Melting Furnaces which could produce higher thermal energies by Production and focusing of strong beam of Electrons which would subsequently raise the temperatures of metals to very high temperatures meant for their refinement and ultra purification. In normal life, dream is like recording of your life events on a VCR and replaying them during sleep. Telepathy is a part of the dream and is similar to the passing of the signals to Sai before we go to sleep. Sai will receive the signals and transmit the reply signals to his devotees mostly during the 'BRAMAH MUH.OORTHAMS' spanned from '04:00 to 06:00 AM. He at times sends the messages to more than one person as it happened in the case of Shyama and Gopal mukund Booty to undertake the construction of temple for him which eventually became the 'SAMADM MANDHIR' to house the mortal remains of Baba. It is from this Samadhi Mandir, he is guiding thousands and thousands of his devotees, and assures to take care of them spiritually as well as materially. To be continued…. --------------- 6.JOIN CORRESPONDENCE COURSE ON BHAGAVAD -GITA: http://www.gita-society.com/lessons/saigita.htm ---------------- 7. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA: "Venkateswaraswamy Swarna": swamysv Swamy": swamymain Sun, 5 Dec 2004 07:05:26 -0800 (PST) Sai Ram. We saw how Baba cured in His own unorthodox way, the health problems of His devotee Bapusaheb Booty. We also saw that the real purpose of Baba was to increase the faith of the devotees in Him, so that they follow the path shown by Him and finally reach their true self which is not different from His. Sai Ram. Let us now see how He helped some more devotees with their health problems. "A Swami from Alandi, wishing to take Baba's darshana, came to Shirdi. He suffered form a severe pain in his ear, which prevented him from getting the sleep. To get the swelling removed, he went to Bombay for operation, but the surgeon on examining the ear said that no operation was then necessary. Such was the wonderful effect of Baba's words." Sai Ram. Baba's words were actually meant for the benefit of the listeners. His very intention that the swelling and pain should subside did the job. In this case, Shama did mention the Swami's difficulty to Baba, not that Baba did not know the problem. See the wonderful case below where the devotee did not even articulate the health problem since he was sure that Baba being a Sarvajna (omniscient) knew his problem and at the appropriate time, will do the needful Sai Ram. Kaka Mahajani: Another devotee named Kaka Mahajani suffered once from diarrhea. As Sai Baba knew everything, Kaka did not inform Him of his disease, thinking that Baba would of His own cure it soon. Everybody ran away, and as Kaka was also doing the same, Baba caught hold of him and made him sit there. In the confusion that followed, somebody left the small bag of groundnuts. Baba took a handful of groundnuts, rubbed them in His hands, blew away the skins, and gave the clean nuts to Kaka and made him eat them. Scolding and cleaning the nuts, and making Kaka eat them, went on simultaneously. Then Baba drank some water and made Kaka also drink it. Baba then said, "Now your diarrhea has stopped, and you may attend to the work of the pavement." ...Are groundnuts medicine for diarrhea? According to current medical opinion, groundnuts would aggravate the disease, and not cure it. The true medicine, in this as in other cases, was Baba's word."(Please see the full story in the above cases in Sai Satcharitra, Chapter 13 by Shri Gunaji) Sai Ram. Yad Bhavam, Tat Bhavathi goes the Sanskrit saying. As per the faith/feeling, so the result. Kaka Mahajani had the faith that Baba knew everything and will therefore do what is needed at the right time. If only all of us have this wonderful faith in God? We will wind up this chapter in the next issue. Sai Ram. ---- --------------------------- 8.QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY: (By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao) "Shashi": shashi_31 14. Spiritual Guidance by Sri Sai Baba through Parables. There was something secret and mysterious about Baba's teachings. Material benefits were conferred openly in the miracles he performed, but spiritual guidance was more concealed. He constantly discouraged sensationalism in His devotees. He wanted Spiritual development, but not visions or powers. Baba always advised that wisdom is required and complete liberation from egoism and accumulation of the wealth of spiritual achievement is to be achieved first. Then only one will get Divine Knowledgeable. Baba's spiritual support was too potent and evident. Even in trivial matters he used to speak symbolically. The following are some instances where Baba spoke symbolically. 1.Once a devotee's spectacles fell at Sai Baba's feet, when he was bowing down over His feet to offer Namaskaram at Baba's feet. A lady who was nearby, said to that devotee not to take those spectacles and present it to Baba. Then Baba immediately said I need no spectacles, I have got a pair. They cost Rs.40/- Its meaning is that He attained realization since 40 years. He often spoke symbolically in effecting cures. When a devotee gave four mangoes as a token of the children he had Baba returned those mangoes saying "eat and die". Once, Shyama was bitten by a snake. He rushed to the mosque. When he reached the steps, Baba shouted –"Don't come up. Go back. Get down". Shyama did not dare to disobey Sai Baba and got down. After a moment, Baba asked him to come up. In this command, `not to come up', Baba was commanding the poison not to enter his blood stream. Once Baba said to one of his devotees that, `some robbers came and took away my money. I said nothing but quietly followed them and killed them and recovered my money'. It means that the MONEY is the faculty natural to man in his pure state. THE ROBBERS are the desires; KILLING them and recovering the money mean destroying desires and realizing the Self. Baba said to a lady devotee that, `the sky is cloudy. It will rain. The crop will grow and ripen. Then the clouds will disperse. Why are you afraid?' It is meant that the sky is her present state of gloom and ignorance. The rain is the hardship and discomfort that she will undergo, but it is also the Divine Grace that will ripen the seeds of spirituality in her heart, unknown to her soul. The dispersal of the clouds is the attainment of light and bliss when the seed has ripened. Some one wanted to take the photo of Baba. Baba said to him `No' he was not to take the photo. It is enough if he knocks the wall down. It means that the photo is the likeness of Sai Baba. The wall is `I- am the body idea', which stands between man and his identity with the spirit. It is enough to destroy that and true likeness of Sai Baba will appear, not the body but the spirit. When one of His devotees came to Baba with a doubt, Baba used to direct him to a particular person. That person would, by the time he goes and finds him, be reading or speaking about the doubt that was disturbing him. ---- -- 9. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES: drkalaga 12/02/2004 08:47:22 –0700 My daily readings from Sai Satcharitra were always emotional events. There is always something in the text that makes me stop, close my eyes and think a bit … At times, it was also so moving I inadvertently cry, often sob, with tears of both ecstasy as well as sorrow and hurt … Tonight too was no different. Lord Sai made me see the whole Advaita Philosophy (Non-Duality of God) in a new light and these are the words that rolled out. The Air I breathe is Sai. The Water I drink is Sai. The Food I eat is Sai. The sky and clouds I see is Sai. All life forms I see are Sai. The green grass and trees I see are Sai. The people I see are Sai. This Ground I walk on is Sai. The Heart that beats in me is Sai. Everything is Sai. Sarvam Sai Mayam. All is Sai and Sai is All. This is the true and only essence of Advaita. The Miracle: I witnessed a strange event, a truly miraculous thing – Sai Leela – this afternoon. I've been going through the motions of all existential things these days but a part of my mind and heart grappled with the scary and dismaying query: Will I lose my wife Anne? The anticipated trip to Miami for the visa and everything thereafter hinges on just one issue: saving Anne and Chris. But the outside reality has the potential to be cruel and ugly that I am scared too, about everything. To bring peace to this agitated mind, I just pray Lord Saibaba. Especially during my numerous coffee breaks at work. Today too, while on my coffee stroll outside, I walked around the block at the back of our office building, silently meditating on Sai and engaging in a spiritual dialogue with Him. There was a small children's school there … As I passed the corner, I noticed that several cardboard boxes of old books were discarded near the trash dumpster. Out of curiosity I peered closer to look at the books; many of them were religious and spiritual books. One small book with a yellow cover caught my attention: the title of the book was "You Are God". I randomly opened it and on page 127 found this sentence: You will not lose anyone. It brought tears to my eyes. Is this Sai's way of reassuring me that everything (with Anne and beyond) will be all right? It did not end there. Back at home, as I was reading Sai Satcharitra, I found the line "You Are God" in Chapter 39 where Sai explains the Advaita Principle to disciples! Is this all a mere coincidence? Or, is this truly a Sai Leela? To my crying, grateful heart, it is. It is a miracle. ------------------------------- 10. SAI WITH CHILDREN: http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad. Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Baba told before He took His Maha Samadhi that He is Muralidhar and would like to play in Booty Wada (Samadhi Mandir) with His devotees. So far you have enjoyed Krishna Leelas. Baba has also established his identity with Lord Sri Rama. Now I will take you through our epic Ramayan. Tell your parents to read the Glory of Shirdi Sai – Bi-weekly E-magazine and narrate Ramayan from this magazine. EXILE OF RAMA: Rama was the eldest and favorite son of King Dasharatha. As the king was rapidly growing old he wanted to install Rama as king as soon as possible. According to prevalent tradition also Rama being the eldest was the natural choice as successor and heir to the throne of Ayodhya. All the ministers and courtiers were consulted by Dasharatha, and as was expected, no one had any objection to this natural choice for kingship. They regarded him not only the fittest, but also the rightful successor to the throne. They saw in Rama a generous, truthful, gentle and brave king who would be kind to his people and true protector of his people. When King Dasharatha heard everyone's point of view in support of Rama his heart was filled great happiness and joy. He fixed the day for Rama's anointment as yuvaraj. The announcement was welcomed by the people and the royal household alike with festivities and joy. Hectic and grand preparations were made for the great and pleasant event. Alms and sweets were distributed to celebrate the occasion. Everyone in the royal household was brimming with joy at the news of Rama's crowning as yuvaraj. The youngest queen Kaikeyi was no less happy. Though Rama was not her son, yet she never differentiated between him and her own son Bharata. She doted on Rama and her own son Bharata equally. She was happy that soon wise and just Rama, who was fit to rule his father's mighty and vast empire, would be crowned as yuvaraja. With brightened face Kaikeyi presented her diamond necklace to her hunch backed maid Manthara who, to her astonishment, threw it disgustingly. Kaikeyi cried – "Manthara! Why have you insulted my present at this happy moment?Happy moment! What happy moment?" said Manthara, "You are a fool who is rejoicing when Kaushalya's son is being anointed as yuvaraj and future king of Ayodhya. Bharata, your own son, has as much right to Ayodhya's throne as Rama." Then she began to present a dark picture of her and her son's future. She told her that when Rama became king, he would not love her, nor would he lover her own son, Bharata. In place of respecting he would reduce her to the position of Kaushalya's maids and her son Bharata would be treated as a mere courtier. It might also happen that Rama banished Bharata from Ayodhya or got him killed in order to make his position safe. Manthara's words had great impact on Kaikeyi's mind. The shocked Kaikeyi could merely utter, "No, no. it can not happen, you are a lier. You are beguiling me." But Manthara interrupted her by saying thus, " O my simple hearted queen! Do you expect to be harmed and fooled by such an old maid of yours who brought you up since when you were merely a little child, who taught you speaking and walking? Do you expect such a folly?" Kaikeyi shook her head in denial, but without waiting for that Manthara continued to say, " The king has deliberately chosen this time to crown Rama as yuvaraj when Bharata was away to his maternal grandfather. It will be too late to wait for the return of Bharata. I know you love Rama, at times, more than your own son Bharata; but do not be blind to your and your own son's welfare and future. If you wish your son's bright future, his welfare, your own welfare and future, you shall have to act at once. Do you agree with me?" Kaikeyi nodded in agreement. To be continued… ------------------------ 11. ARTICLES FROM SAI DEVOTEES: Sankaraiah Dubagunta" sainama SRI SAI PADANANDA RADHAKRISHNA SWAMIJI - Part II Swamiji's mission in life was based on four lofty principles and his life was a symbol and practical demonstration of what he preached. The four pillars are: 1. Love 2. Guru bhakti 3. Devotion to God 4. Satsangh. He had perfect control over the six enemies of mankind. His control over mind, which is the seat of all emotions, made him worshipful. He could prolong his life from November'79 to 14th January 1980 (uttarayana). White beard, hair and dress were indications of his purity of mind and body. "I'm nobody. I have no supernatural powers. I am also a devotee of Sai Baba as you are. However, I will pray to Sai Baba for you and we will do everything to you." This speaks of his simplicity, humility and surrenderance to Sainath. Some of his important sayings: 1. He prescribed the safe path of Bhakti Marga for peoplein general and "grihasthas" in particular, recitation of Vishnu Sahasra Nama, erasement of ego, anihilation of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Madha and Matsalya, charity and Surrender, for realization of the self. 2. "We should not look at the effects of others. Our main duty is to think of God in the temple." 3. "Guru is God and Guru is the channel through which one has to reach the God." 4. "Whether we are in office, shop or bus, let us remember Him and respect His name." 5. "One should adopt 'Samsara' which means adoption of the principle of friendliness and affection in relation to one's neighbours. Wealth should be spent in service of others." 6. "We should make our body the lamp. Bhakti is the oil and the heart is the wick." 7. "Feeding the hungry is one of the ways of pleasing God." 8. "Lord! I know nothing. You took care of me. This is the Saranagathi (syrrenderance). This will give a great force against the Navagrahas." 9. "satsangh and Bhajan are necessary fo reveryone." 10. "Bhagavat Dhyana particularly done on the Ekadasi day with the the control of the eleven nidriyas will have great value." 11. "Sanyasa means equi-vision in the mind and not in the external form. A sanyasi should not stay in any place for more than three days." 12. "If you want happiness and wealth worship the cow. Cow worship is a great Tapas by itself." 13. "If you look at everyone as pure, then you'll also become pure." 14. "We should be burning the lamps in our hearts through the repetition of Bagavan Nama." Such a pious soul merged with Baba on 14th, January 1980 while devotees were chanting Vishnu Sahasranama and Om Namo Narayana." Though he left his devotees have his guidance and help in times of distress through dreams. One should visit Sri Sai Spiritual Centre, Bangalore to feel his presence and enjoy Sai bliss. Devotees of Sainath should be grateful to the management of the center, which is literally following his footsteps and continuing the mission with more enthusiasm and carrying the message of Swamiji throughout India. One has to appreciate the trust for the non-controversial management and committed seva in the name of Lord Sainath. Every house visited by H H Saipadanandaji be it in Poona/ Bombay/ Bangalore/ Madras has become a temple of Sainath. ------ punmans punmans 11/01/2004 22:19:18 +0400 Pranayama itself is a form of Self-enquiry into the processes of our life & vitality, which underlie the mind, Prana, and our internal life force that transcends the ordinary mind and be connected with the cosmic influence in and around which beautifies the entire natural atmosphere. The mind is the power of knowledge and prana is the power of action. They are two wings of a bird. Knowledge implies action and action requires knowledge. Both mind and prana have a common power behind them, which is that of Self. One can control; both by going to their root energy, the power of consciousness. nimano fakir-Dubai-30.10.04 ---- -- AN ADVISE FROM SAIBANISA------ Observe Sri Shirdi Sai Aarathi Day – reg. Dear Saibandhu, Sai Ram! Our Saidarbar member Sri J.P.Rao has come forward with a suggestion for observing Sri Shirdi Sai Aarathi day on 10th December. We would like to convey our hearty thanks to him. Perhaps all of you are aware that Sri Shirdi Sai Baba accepted performing of Aarathi by His devotees while in flesh and blood from 10-12-1910. `Smarana' is one of the Navavidha Bhaktis, which are suggested for attainment of spiritual goals. Saidarbar – Hyderabad desires Baba's devotees to observe 10th December as "Shiridi Sai Aarathi Day" as an instrument for seeking Baba's Blessings by His devotees. It is therefore, suggested to sing at least one or all the four Aarathi's as per individual conveniences at the nearest Sai Mandir or at their residences, sincerely with devotion. Sai Aarathis can also be downloaded from http://www.saidarbar.org - page titled - "Prayer Room" in textual form. Saidarbar – Hyderabad will be pleased to have your feelings expressed after performance of `Aarathi Day' on 10-12- 2004, Friday on the E-mail id: saidarbar.
