Guest guest
color:navy">Rashmi 10.0pt;color:navy">, It was very kind and considerate of you to convince your friend 10.0pt;color:navy">that animals too have souls. While i 10.0pt;color:navy">t is a great service to help others grow spiritually, disputations and arguments defeat that very purpose. A few individuals just won’t be able to accept certain spiritual truths. This is not their fault; it is either the environment they were raised in or simply because their time has not arrived. From my own experiences, I can assure you that your friend will unders 10.0pt;color:navy">tand this truth one day. I have had several friends who were not believers of Baba; on 10.0pt;color:navy">treating them with love, compassion, and patience, I found that they were slowly transformed by Swami himself. That being said, I would like to answer your question very simply. You asked about a logical explanation. Here is one way of answering her question without dwelling into the spiritual dimension of what a soul is: When humans die, what is it that indicates death? Without dwelling into the scientific/physical aspects of death, we can simply explain the absence of some form of “life force” or “energy” in the human body as death. The absence of this life force causes all organs to cease functioning. Different cultures call this life force with different names. Let us term this life force as soul -- if that is what you are familiar with. Now when an animal dies, what happens? It is this same life force that has left their bodies and thus caused the phenomenon: “death.” So logically animals too have a life force and that is what departs when they die. If the life force in humans is termed as soul, isn’t it safe to assume that animals too have the same soul. This same life force when it departs from one physical form goes on to assume another. The same soul could take on different embodiments, ranging from a fly to the human form -- the latter being a higher stage in the process of evolution. The only difference between humans and animals, however, is the level of “consciousness.” Humans are blessed with a higher state of consciousness and knowledge than animals -- the soul however is the same because the soul is a form of energy and has nothing to do with the physical embodiment. I understand your intention is very noble and you should definitely attempt to help individuals change. The rest is Swami’s wish. I hope that answers your question and helps you provide a logical explanation. Although, an attempt has been made to answer your question, as one of your Sai brothers, I would humbly request you to not worry about such arguments and just concentrate on Swami and his teachings. May Swami shower his choicest blessings on you and the entire world. - nimish
