Satya Saibaba stresses four qualities

By Our Staff Reporter

PUTTAPARTHI, NOV. 23. "Without truth, righteousness, love and peace (`sathya, dharma,

prema and

shanthi') everything in this world is futile and useless,'' said Satya Saibaba

and pointed out that man has forgot<145,H>ten the reason why he has been sent

here (earth).

Meaningful life

In his discourse to a gathering at Sai

Kulwanth Hall in Prashanti

Nilayam here today on the occasion of his 79th birthday, Saibaba said that man

should never forget why he has been sent to the earth.

Likening man's life to a postal envelope, which, he said, would reach its

destination in time if it has the correct address,

Saibaba said that man should know "from where he has come, where he is now and

where he is headed.'' His life would be a waste if he fails to know at least

one of the three well, he said.

Man should know the meaning of his existence. His life would be fulfilled only

if he comes to realise the answer to the three questions,

Saibaba said and asked the devotees to see to it that the purpose of their

journey (life) here was fulfilled.

One should not fear the hurdles he would come across in the course of his

journey towards achieving the goals of

life,

Saibaba said and cited the example of Mahatma Gandhi in attaining the goals he

had set. There was nothing greater than sacrifice in life, the spiritual leader

said.

Saibaba also cautioned people against misusing the latent power in them. He also

spoke at length about his injury last year and said; "We should be prepared to

suffer the pain in service, but those who were prepared to serve suffer no pain

at all.''

Produces `vibhuti'

Later, he produced `vibhuti' and a gold ring by a swing of his hand in the air

and presented them to the former foreign secretary of

India,

Maharaj Krishna

Rasgotra, who was the chief guest at the convocation of the Sri

Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning yesterday. Earlier, Saibaba arrived to

the auditorium in a mini car led by a band played by four troupes of students

of Sathya Sai educational institutions, amid the chanting of Vedas.
