PUTTAPARTHI: All arrangements have been made to celebrate Bhagawan Sri Satya Sai Baba’s 79th birthday on Tuesday. Though Prasanthi Nilayam, the abode of Baba, has decided to make it a low-key affair, thousands of devotees have already been arrived to participate in the function. Andhra Pradesh Governor Sushilkumar Shinde would be the chief guest at the function. Sai Seva Samiti of Dharamavaram, in association with Mamillakunta and Kottacheruvu samitis, have put up pandals at Sri Satya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam Railway Station to provide free refreshments for devotees who alight at the railway station on their way to Puttaparthi. More than 100 Seva Dal volunteers have been catering to the needs of devotees at the railway station. They are providing coffee and biscuits to devotees at the railway station at 6 am, breakfast at 7 am and food at noon. ‘‘We have already catered to more than 3,500 people in two days. We expect more devotees on Monday. We are spending around Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 for this,’’ said a Seva Dal volunteer. APRTC have arranged buses to transport devotees from the railway station to Puttaparthi. The 23rd convocation of the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning would be held at 3 pm on Monday. Last year, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekawat was the chief guest at the 22nd convocation of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and Baba’s 78th birthday celebrations.
