Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s birthday celebrations commence

PUTTAPARTHY: The 79th birthday celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba will begin a

Prashanti Nilayam here from Thursday.Already scores of devotees have landed

from various places to take part in the celebrations, for which the APSRTC is

running special buses from Tirupati, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bangalore and

Chennai.The festivities will begin with Venugopalswamy Radhotsavam on November

18, while November 19 will be observed as Youth and Women's Day. On November

21, students of Sri Sathya Sai educational institutions will present cultural

programmes.On November 22, the convocation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of

Higher Learning (Deemed University) will be held. Former union secretary for

external affairs Maharaj Krishna Rasagotra will attend the convocation.On

November 23, the birthday of Sri Sathya Sai Baba will be celebrated. Congress

leader Digvijay Singh, Animal Husbandry Minister G Surya Rao and others will

attend the birthday celebrations, while Tourism Minister Gita Reddy will

participate in the Women's Day celebrations.Already noted pop singer Tona

Guilepsi has reached Puttaparthy and more VIPs are expected to arrive here on

November 22.The district administration is making all necessary arrangements

for the devotees arriving here from abroad and all over the country.
