Guest guest Posted November 2, 2004 Report Share Posted November 2, 2004 'Sai Gramam' project opened Newindexpress. com (Kerala) Tuesday November 2 2004 14:34 IST THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor R.L.Bhatia on Monday inaugurated the 'Sai Gramam' project at a function held at Tagore Theatre as part of the annual day celebrations of the Sree Satya Sai Orphanage Trust here. The Sai Gramam is located at Pandavan Para near Thonnakkal in the district on a 50-acre plot. The Gramam will have a church, a mosque and a temple at the entrance. 'Sai Narayanalayam' at the Gramam would provide free food for the needy round-the-clock. 'Sayoojyam', forming part of the project, would provide shelter to 100 aged destitute women. Other institutions which would form part of the Gramam include 'Sai Niketan' providing shelter to around 300 orphans, 'Swanthanam' providing care and protection to 100 mentally challenged children, 'Sayanham' providing shelter to Alzhimers patients, 'Saketham' providing shelter to aged destitute men and 'Saphalyam' providing job training for 1,000 unemployed youth. The other objectives of the project include mulberry cultivation, placement service, a garden of rare medicinal plants, integrated medical and research centre providing treatment in all streams of medicine and telemedicine linking major hospitals. Sri Satya Sai Orphanage Trust vice-chairperson Dr.M.Subadra Nair, former Excise Commissioner and trust advisory committee chairperson J.Lalithambika, Trust chairman and Ombudsman Justice K.P.Radhakrishana Menon, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Sangatana State president E.Mukundan, Canara Bank DGM K.Gopalakrishnan, Trust executive director Ananda Kumar and Ramesh Menon of Hindustan Lever attended the inaugural function.
