Events at Prashanthi Nilayam - 18 OCT 2004

Dassara Celebrations

 

Swami came in the morning at 7.10 am and came round the gents side

and sat in the lobby. He was listening to the Veda Chanting till

7.45 am and got up and went to His room. At Poornachandra Hall, the

yagna started at 7.15 am and swami went afterwards to Poornachandra

Hall and sat for some time watching the yagna.

 

In the afternoon, Swami came at 3.10 pm and at 3.30 pm, Prashanthi

vidwan sabha program started. There were 3 speakers. Sri Jagadish

Chandra of II year B.Sc, Prasanthinilayam campus, Dr Ravi Kumar,

Faculty member from Brindavan campus and Dr. G.Venkataraman ex Vice

Chancellor spoke till 3.30 pm. From 3.30 pm to 5.45 pm, Bala Vikas

children from hyderabad staged a drama entitled "Ashta Guna Pushpa"

narrating stories from the scriptures describing the eight important

gunas for men. Swami left at 5.20 pm from the lobby and went to His

room. As soon as the drama was over, mangala aarathi was performed

and swami left for Poornachandra Hall.

Dassara Celebrations

 

Nadaswaram Music started at 6 am. Swami came in at 7.10 am and after

going round the gents side too, He got down at the verandah and

walked up to the lobby. He then walked till the ladies end and spent

some time listening to the Vedic Chants of the Primary school boys,

who were chanting the Vedas along with the Veda chanting group. He

came back and sat on the sofa. Swami got up at 8.10 am and went to

the room. At Poornachandra Hall, the Yagna had already started, and

the devotees at Sai Kulwant Hall could smell the burning of the ghee

from the yagna.Sweets were distributed to all devotees. Swami

usually spends some time in Poornachandra Hall watching the Yagna

being performed everyday.

 

In the afternoon, Swami came at 3.10 pm and turned towards the lobby

immediately after the students and sat on the sofa. vedic Chants

were stopped at 3.25 pm and the third day's proceedings of

Prashanthi Vidwan Maha Sabha started at 3.30 pm with Sri Sanjay

Sahney, principal of Brindavan campus announcing the names of the

three speakers of the day. The first one was Sri Sashank Shah of

M.Phil course followed by Sri Ruchi Desai, faculty from Brindavan

campus. the last one to speak was Dr Anantharaman of USA. he spoke

very well dwelling on his experiences with sai at various countries.

At 4.30 pm, Swami started His Divine Discourse. He spoke about how

God pervades everything in the Universe. While mentioning about

Lingam which has no particular form and which is verily the

manifestation of Divinity, Swami materialised by the wave of His

hand a Lingam, much to the delight of the assembled devotees.Swami

then stressed the importance of Vedic Chanting and said that

everyone should chant the Vedas not only when they sit in Sai

Kulwant Hall but also whenever and wherever they could. He said that

chanting of the Vedas with the Divinity in mind is what is required.

Swami concluded the Discourse at 5.15 pm and asked the students to

start the Bhajans. Mangala Aarathi was performed 5.30 pm and swami

went back to His room and called a few devotees inside.Swami left

Sai kulwant Hall at 6 pm.
