Guest guest Posted October 19, 2004 Report Share Posted October 19, 2004 Events at Prashanthi Nilayam - 17 Oct 2004 >From 6:00 am , the local Nadaswaram (Festive South Indian Music) group was playing and the Sai Kulwant Hall bore the festive look with all the decoration. Sai Geetha, Swami's elephant was waiting near the bronze sitting lion statue near the ladies side. Swami came at 7:25 am and got down near Sai Geetha. The devotees could see the mutual love between the two with Sai Geetha twisting her trunk to touch swami. Swami fed her with some fruits and walked to the lobby and sat on the sofa, listening to the Vedic Chants of the group. Swami then distributed red silk dhoties to some boys from the Veda group. Seeing Sai Geetha making gestures towards Swami, Swami sent a basketful of apples again to her and she gladly ate them. At 8:00 am, Swami got up and went to the Bhajan Hall. The group of 15 pundits came in a line from the East Prashanthi side and they also entered the Bhajan Hall. The Veda chanting boys also entered the Bhajan Hall. At 8:40 am, the Nadaswaram party was called inside the Bhajan Hall. At 8:55 am, The procession of the Nadaswaram party , followed by the pundits came out of the hall and followed Sai Geetha to Poornachandra Hall through the ladies side and western gate of Sai Kulwant Hall. Meanwhile, the students, most of them dressed in the Tee shirts given by Swami yesterday got up and went in a procession around the Bhajan mandir chanting Vedas and singing Bhajans and went out of Sai Kulwant Hall through the main gate to do Grama Seva. Todays Grama Seva was done at Puttaparthy village. Swami saw them off from near the interview room and left for Poornachandra hall. the Veda Yagna started at Poornachandra Hall. swami was there till about 10:30 am. Afternoon In the afternoon, swami came at 3:25 pm. The afternoon program started at 3:30 pm with Sri Sanjay Sahney, principal of Brindavan campus announcing that Sri Deepak Anand, a research scholar at management school, Sri Rangarajan, faculty in the management school and Sri Giri, Vice Chancellor would speak in that order. After their speeches, Swami started His Discourse at 4:30 pm and spoke till 5:30 pm. "Faith is the most essential. God is the only friend and the only Guru and God exists in everyone. One can realise God only through love. God is verily the mother, father, Guru and everything." This was the theme of His speech. He concluded the discourse with Prema Mudhitha Manase Kaho and asked the boys to start Veda Chants. After a couple of minutes, mangala aarathi was performed. Swami got up and went to His room and picked up Sri Mehra, Retired Chief of Airforce for interview and his wife also was called in.
