Dear Sai brothers and sisters, Sai Ram!

For quite some time I haven't participated in Satsang as I felt that I have to

be on my own and only with God. My mother died from a stroke and it was a very

nice passing but for me on the physical plan, it was and still is a very big

loss. After passing she gave many signs that she is still with me watching and

helping on another level. From a friend I got a very nice book : "Testimony of

light" by Helen Greaves. In the foreword it is said: "Telepathy between the

living is now accepted, but telepathy between the living and the so-called

"dead" is less common. Countless books have been written recording alleged

communication with discarnate minds and many of these are very dubious in their

authenticity.

In this book we have an outstanding example of telepathy, where communion

between two people on either side of the veil has bee achieved without effort -

and without seeking - in a very beautiful manner.

The communicator, the late Frances Banks (formerly Sister Frances Mary of the

Community of the Resurrection) was held in the highest esteem by all who had the

privilege of meeting her, and it is no surprise to us that one of her early

tasks after passing from this life was to contact the mind of one with whom she

worked so closely while in the physical body.

By using Helen Greaves as a pure unobstructed "channel" Frances Banks has been

able to get such a wonderful "Testimony of Light" across that - as the author

states - it will bring comfort to many and stimulate faith and hope in many",

who in this materialistic age, are feeling frustrated and despairing.

Her message - that the death of the body is but a gentle passing to a much freer

and fuller life, comes across with great clarity and conviction.

In the Preface of the book Canon J.D. Pearce-Higgins (a Vice-Chairman of The

Churches' Fellowship for Psychical and Spiritual Studies) says:

"I have been asked to comment on the fact that formerly Sister Frances Mary

occasionally refers to Reincarnation, since such references may be a

stumbling-block to Christian readers, few of whom, unless they are scholars,

probably are aware that there was 500-year tradition of such belief within the

early Church itself; mainly in the Alexandrian school, including such names as

Clement Justin Martyr, St. Gregory of Nyssa and most notable of all; Origen, who

had a well worked out reincarnational system of belief, which certainly makes

sense, and avoids many of the objectionable features of oriental versions.

Further, it is far from clear that the Church ever officially rejected such

belief, however little the medieval mind was able to contain it. The Council of

Constantinople an A.D. 553, at which it seems that a corrupt form of Origen's

teaching was anathematized, is held by many historians to have been imperfectly

constituted-the Pope himself refused to be present-and even Roman Catholics

contest its validity as a General Council.

The church today has got to face the fact that in our shrunken world, with the

eastern cultures on our doorstep, Reincarnation is again a life issue, since

according to Geoffrey Gorer's sociological study ("In search of English

character" 1955) some 12 per cent of our population believe in it, as against 10

per cent who accept traditional Christian and biblical eschatology, and the

spread of the belief continues.

Rudolf Steiner, one of the most powerful scientific intellects and spiritual

geniuses of our race, in his entirely Christ-centric "Anthroposophy", has

Reincarnation as central also to his teaching.

In the script from 5th December 1965. sister Frances describes that after her

death she came in a kind of rest home, that is run by the Sisters (that passed )

of the community to which she belonged when in incarnation. She says: "I am now

lying in a bed, high up on a terrace, that looks out over a vast sunlit plain.

It is a beautiful scene, and so restful...I am recuperating from the illness

which brought disintegration to my physical body (she died on cancer). I shall

stay here... Indeed I have already told Mother Florence that I want to work with

her when I am ready.

Souls are brought here from earth and from other places (but I do not know much

of those places)-when they are ready. They are "nursed" and taken care of here,

as am I...After I have become adjusted to this life I think I shall stay on here

and teach if I can really be useful... You see how my 'earth psychology' will

come in useful, together with the explanations of the further stages of

progress, when I have learnt more myself. How I shall enjoy co-relating the two

'psychologies' in any classes I have, and in individual talks! It is going to be

rather like a return to the prison work I did ad Maidstone Gaol, only of course,

on a different level...Here, there is no compulsory confinement, and no

punishment, except what you mete out to yourself! You can come and go of

course... But I realize already that you can only 'go' elsewhere, when you are

ready...

In an inexplicable way, and due no doubt to my intense desire, I was able to be

present with you all in mind and consciousness, whilst still lying here in this

silvery light. I wondered if this was what astral traveling must have been

like... But it was a wonderful experience.

I 'saw' you all...I was grateful to those who had journeyed to Maidstone to be

present at these last rites. I gloried in the beautiful flowers....

Then, just as inexplicably as I had become part of these scenes, it all faded. I

was lying here, at peace.

'So this is death! I recall saying to one sister who was beside me-'LIFE

SEPARATED BY DENSITY-this is all'

Elation filled me. I knew now that I could 'tune in' and even 'see' the earth

plane, if desire was strong enough to loosen the barrier between your world and

my new one.

This, I realized, was my first lesson"

A few years back I read in the book "Inner Views and Insights" by Howard Murphet

about the experience of his wife Iris helping on other levels after she passed

from the earthplane. I wanted to write down some extracts but couldn't find the

book (I must have lent it to somebody).

So I will finish my e-mail with Swami's words about death:

"Man is stalked ceaselessly by death; it may pounce any moment on its prey. He

is not conscious of this companion; he has not learned how to meet him and rob

him of the fruits of his exploit. The Atma does not die; only the body dies:

When man knows this, death loses his sting, death is not feared, death is but a

welcome voyage into the known harbor."

I have some extracts from 'Lights of Home' by Howard Murphet and I am

giving below a small part of it. This may be what you meant.

> After the death of Iris, my second wife, in 1994, I had further

psychic contact with my mother through Iris. Iris, who seemed to know

what was happening on this side of the veil, always appeared within a

few minutes of our taking our seats in the studio. Iris had told me

that she had visited my mother and found her very happy in her astral

abode. On one occasion she stood up from her chair and vanished but

within less than five minutes she was back with my mother.

--

> I had a proof of this at one of the meetings. My mother was there

sitting in the chair given to her by Iris. Standing near the chair

with his back to the wall was Swami in his subtle body. At the end of

the meeting, Iris stood up from where she was sitting on the foot of

a bed near to Joan and me, went around behind us to where Swami was

standing and knelt to touch his feet. Joan had mentioned earlier that

there was a line of people along one wall whom she could not

individually identify but knew they were my ancestors. Joan was not

surprised to see my mother stand up from her chair and kneel at

Swami's feet but she was very surprised to see the ancestors forming

a queue and one by one kneeling to make the same gesture which all

Sai devotees know as padanamaskar.

-------------------------------

> my mother was talking to me about the last biblical text she had

given me at a former meeting. She then said, "But I will not be

bringing the Bible any more because I feel now that it is not right

to keep to one spiritual book. Even though I think the Bible is the

best guide, I think I should broaden my outlook and am now going to

start reading books that you and some of the people who come here are

talking about." Of course, I knew she meant the books on the Sai

teachings.

The last paragraph also touches about the adjustments required in Sai

Centers, the recent topic in Sai-Net.

Dear Bala, Sai Ram!

Thank you very much for the extracts from 'Lights of Home' by Howard Murphet,

which I hadn't read, but in the book

"Inner Views and Insights" by Howard Murphet that he wrote soon after Iris

passing is also a whole Chapter talking about how Iris was busy helping on

different levels and how Swami came to her when she was passing, and how she was

merging with Swami during Darshan in Puttaparthy and than she walked separate

from Him....

For me it's so important to share with all my brothers and sisters that on these

other levels there is no difference between the ones who were following Jesus,

Swami, Buddha or Allah, it's only on this physical level that men make all these

differences.

It's so important to remember always Swami's words. "There is only one religion,

the religion of love!"

Sai Ram to All:

Baba's blessings, Happy Divali and Happy Eid to all.

I'm glad this subject came up. In Trinidad the pundits say that the living

should offer food and water to the deceased during the Pitrapaksh time - which

is 15 days before Navaratri in October.

What is Baba's opinion on this? Do all our offerings reach our deceased

ancestors? What if the soul has already entered another body/life, what happens

when we call their names?

I respect our rituals, but in this time with Swami where Baba is simplifying

life for the youngers ones what do we do.

If anyone out there knows of Baba's input on this subject, please share it.

Thanks and sai ram.

Dear Sai brothers and sisters!

Looking at the situation in India and Pakistan after the earthquake

where so many children were killed I was very sad thinking that it

happened at the time when during Dasara so many yagnas where done and

so often we were told that all these helps for purification of the

world. May be, Swami is crying because He was not able to change the

people there and so not able to interfere with their karma. He is sad

not to be able to change our hearts and behavior.

I always remember when Swami told me during the Interview 1995. about

the war in Croatia and Bosnia when I asked what could be done to stop

the war. He said: "For hundreds of years wars were going on in this

area. It's karma of this country."

Let's say more and more prayers to Swami, to help all of us to become

real Embodiments of love, so that we deserve that He interferes and

change some of the big sufferings in our lives.
