I am very new in the Sai movement and though I am attending the

bhajans regularly, I get lost when the mantras are recited, would be

pleased if anyone could give me mantras or links to the mantras

available online. Mantras required are food mantra, mantra recited

for the deceased, mantra at beginning of a satsang and mantra at the

beginning of the bhajan practice.

RE: [saibabanews] Mantras

SaiRam!!,

One Sai website that I know of that has all the Slokas (Mantras)

with their elaborate meaning is:

http://www.saidarshan.org/baba/index.html

This is an amazing website indeed (the Slokas section is on the

Right hand panel on the home page)

One of the food prayers is attached herewith.

Hope this helps.

With Warm Regards,

RE: [saibabanews] Mantras

Om Sai Raam Dear Sister,

Swami as specifically assigned certain mantras for the intake of

food which

is the Brahmaarpanam

Brahmaarpanam Brahma Havir

Brahmaagnau Brahmanaa Hutam

Brahmaiva Tena Gantavyam

Brahma Karma Samaadhinaha

This is 24th verse from the 4th chapter of Bhagavad Geetha] The act

of

offering is Brahman. The offering itself is Brahman. The offering is

done by

Brahman in the sacred fire which is Brahman. He alone attains

Brahman who,

in all actions, is fully absorbed in Brahman. (As we chant this

prayer we

are offering the different types of food to Brahman).

Aham Vaishvaanaro Bhutva

Praaninaam Dehamaashritha

Praanaapaana Samaa Yuktaha

Pachaamyannam Chatur Vidam

This is 14th verse from the 15th chapter of Bhagavad Geetha] This

sloka is a

sort of acknowledgement and assurance to us from Brahman. "I am

Vaishnavara,

existing as fire God in the bodies of living beings. Being

associated with

ingoing (prana) and outgoing (apaana) life breaths, I will digest

all the

four different types of food (that which we bite and chew; that

which we

masticate with the tongue; those which we gulp; that which we

swallow) and

purify them."

Harir Daatha Harir Bhoktha

Harir Annam Prajaapatih

Harir Vipra Shareerastu

Bhoonkte Bhojayathe Harih.Oh Lord Hari, You are the food, You are the

enjoyer of the food, You are the giver of food. Therefore, I offer

all that

I consume at Thy Lotus Feet.

You can also use this prayer for the deceased....

Om Dyau Shanthi Rantariksha Gwam Shanthi,

Prithaivi Shanthi Rapah Shanthi,

Roshadhayah Shanthi,

Vanas Patayah Shanthi,

VishveDevah Shanthi,

Brahma Shanthi,

Sarvagwam Shanthi,

Shanthi Reva Shanthi Sa Ma Shanthi Redhi.

Om Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi.

Meaning:

Unto The Hevan Be Peace,

Unto The Sky And The Earth Be Peace.

Peace Be Unto The Water,

Unto The Herbs And Trees Be Peace.

Unto All The Gods Be Peace,

Unto Brahma And Unto All Be Peace.

And May We Realise That Peace.

Om Peace Peace Peace.

The mantra that I used before satsangh is:

For Ganesh:

Om parvati pataye

Hara hara hara mahadev

Gajananam buta

Ganadi sevatam

Kapitha jambu

Phalacharu bhakshanam

Umasutam shoka

Vinasha karakam

Namami vigneshvara

Pada pankajam

O elephant-faced God, Ganesha,

you are served by the attendants of Shiva

and you eat forest apples and blackberries.

You are Uma's son, the destroyer of sorrows.

I bow to the lotus feet of the remover of obstacles

For Maata Mantra:

Aum Bhur Bhuvah Swah Tat Savitur Varenyam

Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

For Guru:

Gurur Brahmaa Gurur Vishnu

Gurur Devo Maheswara

Gurur Saaksaat Param Brahma

Tasmai Shri Guruve Namaha

Guru Is Brahmaa (Who plants the qualities of goodness)

Guru Is Vishnu (Who nurtures and fosters the qualities of goodness)

Guru Is Maheswara (Who weeds out the bad quality)

Guru Is Supreme Brahman Itself

Prostration Unto That Guru"

Karagre vasate laksmih karanadhye Sarasvati I

Karamule tu govindah prachate karadarsanam

For Mantra Before Bhajan Practise You can use:

Om Sai Ishwaraya Vidmahe

Sathya Devaya Dhimahi

Tana Sarva Prachodayat

Meaning:

"I know through Gurus and Shastras (and by direct experience) that

Sai is

God Himself: He is Bhagavan and Iswara. I meditate on this form in

my heart

with all my mental faculties. He is the embodiment of truth,

divinity,

universal consciousness and one who pervades all the worlds. I pray

to such

a Saiparameswar to direct our intellects to engage in auspicious and

righteous activities. I meditate on this great form."

Goodluck and may Swami continue to guide and protect each and

everyone of

you through the spiritual path.

Om Shri Sai Raam

Mantra for Food:

Brahmaarpanam Brahma Havir

Brahmaagnow Brahmanaahutam

Brahmaiva Tena Gantavyam

Brahma Karma Samaadhinaa

Aham Vaishvaanaro Bhootvaa

Praaninaam Dehamaa Shritaha

Praanaapaana Samaayuktaha

Pachaamyannam Chaturvidham

Meaning:

The whole creation, being a projection fo Brahman, the process of offering is

Brahman, the food is Brahman and it is offered by Brahman, in the Fire of

Brahman. He who thus sees Brahman in action reaches Brahman. I, the supreme

Spirit, becoming Vaishvaanara, the first which dwells in teh bodies of living

beings, and uniting with the Praana and Apaana breaths, I digest the four kinds

of food.

Another food prayer is:

Harirdata HarirBhokta Harirannam Prajaapatih

Harirviprashareerastu Bhoonkte Bhojayate Harih

Meaning:

Hari, the Lord of all bings, is the giver, the enjoyer and the food itself. The

body of the "Vipra" is Hari, Hari is the one who eats and also the one who

feeds. (When we offer food to the Lord before partaking of it, it is blessed and

becomes free from any impurities that may have gotten mixed up in the food).
