The best thing about our beloved Baba is that he is extremely preccise, simple and scientific in whatever he does, says or expects devotees to follow. To begin with, the sole aim of formiig sai organisation is to undertake 3 activities, namely 1. Service activities 2. Educational activities 3. Spiritual activities The first two types of activities are universal in nature and donot require to be localised to made locals feel comfortable with them. The third type, according to me, can be initiated with NAMSMARANAM - chanting of the name - preferably with OMKARAM ,the sacred word in hinduism, chanting of OM. Before we begin this, we can educate locals about OM, its primordial nature, similies of OM such as OMEN in cristianity, AMEN in Islam etc. Later, the locals may be graduated to other forms of spiritual activities such as study circle etc. Besides knowledge about Baba's preaching can be had from numerous websites. These are just my thoughts on the subject. SAI RAM / Jwalant - INDIA ---------- "hastasana" <hastasana Thu Aug 12, 2004 5:58am Re: kellyyoga Sai Ram Kellyoga, Surely there is no superior religion. I remember growing up to believe the Christians were superior, but that sanctimonious feeling is only man-made not God-man. In a world as dangerous as this one, we need more to bring us together than to divide us. Any religion that suggests theirs' is better than someone elses will ultimately divide - I believe there is only one God, but many paths. This I also learned from 15 years of visits to Sai Baba. We can practise love 'sans ceremonie.' There is only one relgion the religion of love. Sri Sai Baba ---------- sherry <sherryjagdeo Thu Aug 12, 2004 6:18am Re: [saibabanews] Sai Center Atmosphere Sai Ram my opinion is that the holistic ideals of the vedas can be taught to everyone. Its teachings are universal and can be taught in any other language. It can be translated from the original sanskrit. This issue is sooo important !! Each centre should cater to the cultural background of the country while at the same time embrace the universal principles of what Swami teaches. I dont believe that all centres should be standardised. All have Swami at the forefront but while some countries may take an indian slant , others may not be able to identify 100% with that. Spiriuality is the same , the way in which each approaches it may be different. sherry. And nothing happens unless Swami wills. Is He wishes to bring somebody into His fold,He will do that.So i think the center rules should be obeyed to maintain the universality. We need not worry about making it all look and feel local.Divine love brings us together, not local culture.Swami will see to it that everybody feels at home in His centers. But i remember reading in Joy Thomas book- Life is a challenge, meet it- that Swami allowed their center members to hug each other. But, she mentioned that all her center members were old in age(and body) and felt divine love for each other. But as far as i know, it's for that center only. The only way to decide on this is to pray to our sweet Lord that he lets us know what He wants us to do about this.Meditate on Him and hear your inner voice.Wish you love and blessings. I am of Spanish background and I was raised a roman catholic, going to church every sunday, baptised as a baby, did communion and confirmed, and went to private catholic schools. Being a catholic was all I knew until I married my husband who is Hindu and where I learned about Baba. At first, it was strange walking into the hindu temple (where we hold bhajans every thursday evening)because everything was so strange and colorful! But as i soon learned LOVE is the key! Everyone was very welcoming and full of Baba's love. I soon started to sing spanish bhajans about Baba, Shiva, Jesus, Buddha, Allah, etc. Being able to sing in my native language brings me great comfort and allows me to express my devotion and love towards our dear Lord Sai. Everyone else has also learned the spanish bhajans I sing and it is a true testimony to Baba's teachings about unity. I hope this has helped.
