Visit to Sharjah Sai Simiti

I had to opportunity to attend Thursday Bhajan with the Sharjah Sai Simiti.

 

The Bhajans were held at the Simiti Convenors’ residence for one hour duration.

It was a very invigorating experience to hear bhajans that spring from the

heart and are full of emotion. It may be that the use of mikes and loudspeakers

kill the emotion and nuances of tall and lay in bhajans. But, for me it was a

great experience to witness this level of devotion in a far land. There were

some 50 devotees for the Bhajans.

 

Venugopal (who invited me) for the Bhajan, could not come as he was very

engrossed in making a presentation for his official work which wanted him to go

to Seoul the next day.

 

After the Bhajan there was study circle – the topic was Karma. Again this was a

very enthusiastic event although the participants were handful.

 

During the study circle i got the opportunity to share some stories on the

painting of the Prasanthi Mandir in 1985. I am sure devotees at Sharjah also

liked the stories behind the Sai Silver and Sai Gold picture.

 

In fact i witnessed a very subtle miracle unfolding. The Sai Gold and Sai Silver

picture were unpacked and placed on the well decorated alter. The alter had two

life size pictures – one of Parthy and one of Shirdi Baba. The Sai Gold was

placed between the two big pictures and Sai Silver was placed next to Sai Gold,

but directly in front of the Sathya Sai life size picture. Both the Shirdi Baba

and Sathya Baba pictures were decorated with – long white jasmine flower

garlands. As the Bhajan and Study Circle progressed the garland on Sathya Baba

picture elongated long enough to engulf the Sai Silver picture placed below it.

This was amazing, astonishing and incredible.

 

The other task that took me to Dubai – well that is a Sai task that I will keep

close to my chest, for the moment.
