Guest guest
Dear Ones, I am looking for Swamis directives in regards to having no food after bhajans and other functions other than satsangs (or not even then). This connects with Swamis directives to go home in silence after bhajans. How can you do that if you have food afterwards (and chatting)? I found a quotation in the Bhajanguidelines of 'Bhajanamavali'but it is not enough for the 'doubting Thomas'. Your help would be appreciated. Guest guest
Swami advises us to sit and contemplate after His Darshan or Bhajan. He says the Divine energy that we receive during Darshan will be lost if we take to speaking and chatting immediately after Darshan. So, He asks us to be quite and contemplative so that the moments of bliss can be fully savored. And also, after Bhajan Swami asked us to go for 'Vibhuti' distribution as Prasad rather than any other food items. The reason might be that, if the Bhajan organizers plan to distribute some food items after Bhajan, all their concentration and work will go into those preparations rather than towards the main thing - i.e., Singing the Lord's Name and deriving the bliss thereform. Particularly, if the group of devotees coming for Bhajan is large, it might take considerable effort to get things prepared and there are chances for distraction of mind . Also, this might lead to some sort of competition between different organizers of Bhajans and each of them might unknowingly give place to pomp and show while organizing the Bhajans at their homes. So, Swami advises to have 'Vibhuti' Prasad and make the whole thing simple and easy. However, I think these rules are for the new toddlers. If one has firm control over the vagaries of mind, and can concentrate on Swami at all times, without allowing the mind to get disturbed even while organizing functions with considerable number of people, i.e., if one can strictly regard every act as Swami's work and carry out things in pure love, I dont think these restrictions will apply to him. Guest guest
i remembered these lines of Swami. This is what is told by Swami regarding the behaviour after Darshan. " THE GIFT OF DARSHAN Always find a quiet corner after My darshan, where you may enter the stillness and receive the completion of My blessings. My energy goes out from Me, as I pass by you. If you proceed to talk with others immediately, this precious energy is dissipated and returns to Me unused by you. Rest assured that whatever My eyes sees becomes vitalised and transmuted. You are being changed day by day. never underestimate what is being accomplished by this act of darshan. My walking among you is a gift yearned for, by the Gods of the highest heaven and here you are, daily receiving this grace. Be grateful. These blessings, you will receive, will express themselves in their own perfect time. But also remember that to whom much is given, from him much will be demanded. Take advantage of my grace and remain ever faithful to the Lord and He shall guide and protect. -Baba" Hope it helps to some extent...
