Guest guest
Light and Love The consequent parts are about strange for human body properties of non-vegetarian food by Sanatana Sai Sanjeevinis and own insights. This theme has properly studied in our teacher's environmental scholarship, as vegetarian food is a base for spiritual enlightenment and ecological consciousness. Several points of view of modern science what reached nearly to the same standpoints. Seven parts of mails are the explanations why vegetarian food is healthy mainly by Sanatana Sai Sanjeevinis, but not only. (This site is very large and includes the healing methods. The compilation from this site by additional notes seems to be more clear explanation for the benefit of vegetarian food). The other parts include Swami's quotations and recommendations about the quality the food and personal experiences how in conditions of long cold winters to prefer vegetarian food. The last part would be about standpoints of modern science concern to vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. (By the way, from history is known that many worldwide famous persons were vegetarian. In italy Leonardo da Vinci (1452 - 1519) would often buy caged animals at the market just to set them free. George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950) turned vegetarian at age 25. About them in the last part). Non-vegetarian foods including meat, fish, eggs putrefy within a few hours and so the putrefaction takes place within human body, what carrying around decaying corpses and toxins from them. Eggs too rot as fast as meat and fish. Eggs provide the largest quantity of cholesterol. Besides, the eggs are full of chemicals. The hens are kept in the most shocking conditions - never allowed to roam free in the sun, always sitting in one position to produce "assembly line" eggs. They are fed hormones (for better produce) and artificial yellow colour (which is one of the worst offenders in children's behavioral disorders) to make the eggs look more appetising. (Those eggs are "nuggets of concentrated nutrition" is a myth. One egg contains almost zero iron, 1200 IU of Vitamin A, a large quantity of Vitamin D and is loaded with Cholesterol. Compare that to 6000 IU of Vitamin A in a small bunch of drumstick leaves and 10,000 IU in an even smaller bunch of coriander leaves. Both these are also very rich sources of iron as are all green leafy vegetables. Vitamin D is available from the sun - it is formed directly on the skin by the action of the sun). Countries where meat and other non-vegetarian food is consumed in large quantities have the highest rates of colon cancer. The animals are fed all sorts of hormones and drugs to fatten them up - these are also recycled to humans and result in severe hormonal disturbances in men and women. Antibiotics are a routine part of their diet. Ingesting these will make us immune to their action should we ever need to use them. Human's stomach has to produce a lot more acid to digest non-vegetarian foods. They themselves contain of uric acid. It is one of the causes of suffering from ulcers, arthritis, psoriasis and other skin problems, etc. The adrenal glands or stress glands become very active in the animal during captivity and during the butchering process. The adrenal so produced is recycled to humans thus causing unnecessary panic, stress and fears. Many diseases (ulcer, arthritis, eczema, asthma, psychiatric, heart, blood pressure, cancer, and kidney cases) can wholly or partially cured when all non-vegetarian foods have eliminated from the diet. If we wish to live long and be strong and hardworking let's learn from nature. The elephant, the bull, the horse (we measure power as horsepower) are all vegetarians. The elephant lives 100 years and more. The lion and all other carnivores on the other hand live only 15 years. The lion is vicious and violent and works hard only to kill for food. The rest of the time it spends sleeping (20 hours per day). It is known that to produce one pound of meat 12 to 20 pounds of vegetable products as animal feed is needed. It takes 60 litres of water to grow 1 kilo of wheat, 200 litres to grow I kilo of green beans, 3000 litres to produce 1 kilo of eggs, 8200 litres to produce 1 kilo of chicken 16400 litres to produce 1 kilo of pork and 50,000 litres to produce 1 kilo of beef (Look: Higher Taste 'ISCKON' -Published by Bhaktivedanta Book Trust. ISBN 0-89213-128-4). Morally and spiritually, there is only one God. How a human being can dedicate actions to God when he/she ruthlessly and needlessly kills and harms His animated Creation. Guest guest
After reading your articles - if still some people crave to dig their molars into dead flesh - then all we can say is they are incorrigibly ignorant. Their eyes are open - but they refuse to see. I was amazed that many devotees in this debate on Vegetarianism, came forward sitting on the fence - they projected to eat or not to eat as a part of life style and other such compulsions. Not one condemed meats with the strong condemnation it deserves. Look I also have a life - I have been in the Army and led a very colorful life. I used to hunt and eat a lot of meats. Then I became a Sai Devotee - no I did not leave it straight away, but slowly and slowly we weaned ourselves away - and now we are practical - we understand that meats are bad - but there are occassions, when I am abroad, when I have found nothing vegetarian in the food served. Well besides salads - I do put a piece of white fish in my plate - to avoid curious glances from meat lovers and with some mashed potatoe and whole wheat bread I finish my meal - the poor fish goes into garbage with the plate. In this way I may have converted at least a dozen men and women into vegetarians. Since this debate has been going on for long with able participation from otherwise silent quarters, let me add a visible distinction for viewing - view your teeth - view the horse and buffallo and cow teeth and also view the dog, cat, tiger (all carnivorous) animals. Match your set of teeth with the animals - and follow what the match reveals - if it matches vege animals teeth then be a veggie from this moment onwards and if they match the carnivorus then be carnivorous. But be true, atleast to yourself. Sai Ram - Be Happy. JP ~~~~~~~~~Reet Priiman <reet.priiman (AT) neti (DOT) ee> wrote: Light and Love ....................................... Guest guest
Sairam Jatinder Sir. Thanks for your nice msg and your agony for meat eaters. Sir. I think we are responsible for changes in ourselves and not others. We have to pray Swami only. I was also a voracious Non-vegetarean eater upto 1994 end. It was Swami's miracle for our family that i married to a girl who was a sai follower and 1994 birthday discourses Swami came down heavily on non-veg eaters saying that we eat chicken/mutton and claim to be devotees of lord Ram,Krishna,Sai. Rather calling our selves Sai devotees, we should call our selves chicken devotees. Is Swami's reprimandation is not enough for us to stop non-veg eating ? If we can not stop this habit, then i am sure, we have no faith on Swami and we dont love our beloved Swami. I had attended one yoga class several years back, where the Yogacharya was saying Human-being created by God to eat only Vegeterian foods like Cow, Goats etc. There are some distinctions rather the physical built is differnet for vegetarian[a]/non-vegetarian animals. For example 1. [a] Vegeterian animals siblings/pops can see with their eyes after taking birth[eg Human beings,Cow etc.]. b] Carnivorous siblings can open their eyes after 21 days [eg.Dog,Tiger,Cat etc.] 2. [a] Teeth are mostly flat. Teeth are pointed [to bite meat i think]. 3. [a] Saliva in mouth alkaline Saliva in mouth is acidic [may to digest the meat] 4. [a] Nails are flat Nails in the claws are pointed [to attack the prey i think] 5. [a] intestine is too long [Therefore after eating non-veg, it cant go properly to stomach for digestion, we feel uneasy with bad breaths/indigsstion etc.] intestine is small [meat in short time goes to stomach] 6. [a] can not see in the dark can see in dark [might be to locate their food/prey] 7. while drinking water, use upper and lower leaps] use tongue to drink water. >From above points, we can ascertain that the carnivorous animals are created by GOD to eat meats and not man, who is taking non-veg to please his sense of Jivha [tongue]. Cow cant eat non-veg how much u force him.. but we human ?????? Can we be called human ?? Animals are better than us. I may be excused if i have hurt anybody's feelings. Sairam. Swami bless us all. =====A man with desires, kama,is never happy. A man with anger, krodha, will have no friends. Guest guest
Sai Ram Dear Sai Brothers, I agree with you both. I was also a "voracious" meat eater until Sep 2000 but had an experience on the first day of Navratri(9 auscpicious nights of Devi) which made me leave meat forever. At that time I was not aware of Swami but 2 years later when I came into His fold, I heard a speech of His in which He said that if we love HIm we should leave meat, alcohol and smoking from now on; ONLY THEN CAN WE BE CALLED HIS TRUE DEVOTEES. this was enough reason to never even think of having meat again and actually silently pray that my husband leaves it too:) He did after 2 years(jan 2004). I feel prayer is very powerful. If we have an earnest desire to overcome anything we think we should and pray to Him sincerely; He always helps! We need to have patience and Faith though. ----------------------- An excerpt from Swami's discourse (reminded me of the story of that devotee who started offering food to Swami and eventually turned vegetarian) "if you want to develop a relationship with God, your thoughts should be of a Divine nature. God is purely sathwic in nature; so if you want to strike up a friendship with Him, you have to take purely sathwic food, develop a sathwic nature, and have sathwic thoughts. If you wish to build up a permanent relationship with God, you must strengthen these sathwic tendencies. " ------------------- May Swami confer on all of us Strength and Wisdom to follow His teachings.
