Guest guest
Light and Love Jatindar Shad's contribution about devotion serves as a pinpointer what remembers to devotees that the true devotion is independent on whatsoever outer circumstances. True devotion is a dialog with Swami's Cosmic Form what reflects everywhere as eternal Truth. Much thanks to Jatindar for his report. In addition to this below are some Swami's quotations about devotion and connected with devotion. "There are many obstacles along the path of devotion. Some people accuse, criticize and censure God in times of difficulties. Each one has to bear the consequences of one's own actions. God remains unaffected. God is pure, unsullied and sacred. Let people say anything, be cool and calm. Do not enter into unnecessary arguments. It only breeds enmity. Speak softly and sweetly with a smiling face. That will silence the critic. Smile is the best answer to criticism. When Paul went on accusing Jesus, Jesus lovingly went up to him and gave a pleasing smile. The sweetness in the nectarine smile of Jesus transformed the poisonous heart of Paul. Be always cheerful, even in times of adversities. Always put up a smiling face, never a castor-oil face. "Happiness is union with God." (Sri Bhagawan Sathya Sai Baba. The Divine Discourse: "Propagate the Divine Message of Love." 25 Dec. 1998, Prashanti Nilayam). The base of the devotion is hidden within. Swami's Cosmic Form reflects in everyone's from within and enlighten the outer space around a person. In many cases this light is veiled. Swami teaches to recocognize this hidden force: "Today people read all kinds of books and go after all sorts of great persons. They do not enquire about what constitutes greatness. Realize that there is no one greater than each of you. But you have not discovered the real truth about yourself, like an elephant that does not know its own strength.... Recognize the fact that the whole universe is within you. You have all the powers in you. They are derived from the Divine Spirit within you. It is the Divinity which endows you with a Free Will. If you want to realize God, if you wish to experience the Divinity within you, if you want to know your true self, you have to develop pure, unsullied love. It is this love that binds all people. It is described as the tether of love ( Premapaasam)."Sri Bhagawan Sathya Sai Baba. The Divine Discourse: "Realize God Through Love." 25 Dec. 1996, Prashanti Nilayam). How, by which way to reveal and recognize the divine reflection within? Swami has often stressed that it is possible through pure heart and He also underlines the significance of truth based on thoughts as Awareness. "The most important faculty in man is Prajna Shakti (the power of Integrated Awareness). lt is from Prajna Shakti that other powers like Ichcha Shakti (will power), Medha Shakti (intelligence), Vaak Shakti (the power of Speech) and Vicharana Shakti (the reasoning powers) are derived. This Integrated Awareness is sustained by thoughts. The most important requisite for man in the world is truth based on thoughts. True thoughts constitute the proper wealth for Man. The absence of good thoughts weakens the will power. To achieve anything worth while in life Man has to strengthen his will power." (Excerpts from: Sathya Sai Baba. The Divine Discourse: "Spread the Message of Love." 25 Dec.1994, Prashanti Nilayam).
