Guest guest
Sai Ram Recently was in "spirituality. indiatimes.com" a lovely article " I Have Learnt A Lot From My Parents" written by Sai follower Nandan Nilekani. Enjoy, how he put into practice his belief in Swami, His wisdom and in human values. I Have Learnt A Lot From My Parents Nandan Nilekani Yes, I believe in the presence of a Higher Power. I am a follower of Sai Baba and believe in his wisdom. Do I spend a long time invoking God on a daily basis? Well, not long enough. I recite the Gayatri Mantra everyday. Thought brilliance and hard work are essential components to achieve success, luck and destiny have a definite part to play as well. It is not enough just to be smart — you have to be in the right place at the right time. I have been extraordinarily lucky. I have always been a great admirer of Nelson Mandela. To me, he is a hero in the real sense of the word. One would have thought that after 27 years in jail, the man would be disgruntled. But his magnanimity is astounding! Having the right set of values is very important in life. To be legal and ethical at all times, to be fair to individuals, to practise the virtues of basic honesty, not to play games and to lead by example — these are some of the values I believe in and practise. I have learnt a lot from my parents. I remember when I was 12 years old, Papa was being transferred out of the city and I was supposed to stay back with an uncle and his family. It was drilled into me that I was not to be a nuisance to my relatives and must learn to be of assistance in every possible way. That was a defining moment in my life. (Nandan Nilekani is Managing Director, Infosys Technologies). (As told to Anubha Sawhney).
