Transformation - Dr. Upadhaya's speech June 20th 1998

I read this story yesterday morning - Wednesday.

 

On Tuesday eveing we has some guests and while watching the Spiritual Blossoms

program on Sanskar TV and conversation emanated on Miracles. And to my guests I

narrated the story of Eric as i had heard from other devotees at Prasanthi. I

did not know the full input - all I knew that there was a devotee, by the name

Eric, and he would come dressed in a suit with a tie - for he believed that

when our political leaders call us - we go rushing in our best outfit - and

Baba is far higher then these political leaders - He is the Master of this

Universe - so He should be offered the best of the best. And true till date

Eric comes in the best suits - even if the heat is sweltering and he might be a

tiffle uncomfortable.

 

After the evening, I was thinking, what Eric was made of - strong determination

and total resolve to offer the best of best to Him - our beloved Lord and we -

rush to get into the lightest pyjamas and kurtas no sooner we land in parthi.

We want to merge in the sea of devotees all dressed in different hues of white

- we want to loose our identity. But, Eric want no identity for himself - he

just wants the best of the best for Swami. He does what all of us do - but he

does it brilliantly differently - thats what makes him special.

 

With these thoughts - I went to sleep waking to the full story of Dr. Eric

Arnott. I had no words to thank Swami for His infinite mercy. This was no

coincidence. I had stressed the Eric type of devotion strongly - He rewarded me

with the full story from the horses mouth.

Today I would like to share with you a small experience I had 6 months ago. It's

called: Transformation. It's quite wonderful how Swami changes the nature of His

devotees. One by one. The time has come for the West to change. He is bringing

to Himself the most difficult people to change: like David (Bailey) - he was a

very difficult man and Swami has changed him. And now we see how wonderful it

are that his music, his love is influencing people. There is another very

difficult person in this country - Eric Arnott. I've been working with him for

the last 22 years - he was my professor. He is a top professor in ophthalmology

- the number one man in the world as far as the eyes are concerned.

I am more thrilled on reading Bro Jatindar Saab's reaction to the story of Dr

Eric. It erased whatever ego developed within me - for having posted such a nice

story to the group and feeling happy and ofcourse proud on seeing the responses

from few devotees - and made me to realise that no action of ours is under our

control. HE makes the actions through us mortals.

It was nice of the group to share the Speech of Dr Upadhyay within the SAI world

at large. I have known Dr (now Professor) Upadhyay and Professor E Arnott for

last 14 years both of  whom are Opthamologists in the UK, Professor Arnott has

now retired. Dr Upadhyay is an icon to me and is a silent worker visiting

Africa, Russia, India and spreading our Beloved Swami's message tirelessly by

practising HIS Teachings and servicing humanity at large. 

He has worked with Mother Thressa Charity for many years as well. Professor

Upadhyay and his team of professonals regularly visit  remote parts of world

such as Siberia, Himalyays and Africa and run medical camps providing care

lovelingly free of costs for those who would not be able to receive it. They

take latest equipment and technology, medicines,reading glasses and give their

time free and provide expertise in all fields and carry out Eye cataract

operations, Dental proceedures, General Health etc. He and his team have just

returned from two Medical camps held in Malawi and Kenya where they examined

some 5,000 paitents and offered consultations and medicines in 10 days.

I would highly recommend to all to read a book entitled "Inspired Medicine"

which has elegantly condensed expriences of eminent medical professionals from

various countries who have come in the SAI FOLD and seen such transformations

in their work practices by puting into practice Swami's Teachings at their work

places.
