Tue, 20 Apr 2004 08:58:25 +0530 Sai Ram to all, Here is a note on the subject which I hope will be interest to you. The purpose of chanting vedas before SAI comes to SAI Kulwant hall. Vedas are the only script written in sanskrit language and through the same we can converse with GOD. The same vedas are chanted during homam and the vedic mantras were carried by agni to all pervading LORD. In this case, Agni is not required as GOD is physically present. The quintessence of the Vedic chanting is to praise the LORD, adore the LORD, worship the LORD and finally surrender to the LORD .This process was started by Veda Vyasa to remove the vagouries of the mind and make it pure so as to draw energy within.A ll the sages had adopted this method to remove the impurities of the mind, senses and the body so that no sensuous thought will enter again from the mind. This is one method of controlling the mind not to entertain bad thoughts and fall a prey to them. We clean our room every day and we wash our body, wash our clothes, wash our car in order to remove dirt and dust. Similarly the mind is compared to a mirror and the dust fallen on the mirror is our sensuous thoughts. In order to clean this dust we draw energy from with in, by chanting vedic mantras and the dust and dirt are washed away. We do everyday because, our five external senses are watching the worldly sensuous objects and send their impressions to the mind. That means the mind again becomes dirty because of these impressions, hence we chant every day to remove the dust and dirt fallen on the mind. This habit has to be continued till you acquire a strong mind and begin to see GOD in every object. Therefore every spiritual aspirant has to adopt this process so as to become an exalted devotee. But one thing we must make sure some times the mind is so strong and it says " I am strong then why practice ". This is the reason one has to become a devotee, as he feels he is nothing but a dust on the lotus feet of the LORD.One who has this kind of feeling, he is above temptations. Whatever SAI does it is for our good. We should see the inner meaning and grasp. In order to do this, one has to develop an eye of devotion. All the exalted devotess like Theagaraja, Ramdas, Purandaradas, Kanakadas, Thukaram, Meera, Kabir, Chaitanya and others became pure because of their devotion. They sang bhajans which had the same meaning of vedic mantras. We can adopt any method that suits us and the end result should be the same, that is purification of the mind in order to draw divine energy from with in. Once the mind is pure, your talk is pure and actions are pure. This kind of purity is oneness of thought, word and deed. "MANAS EKAM, VACHAS EKAM AND KARMANYEKAM MAHATMANAM". One who develops this attitude is called mahatma. Therefore you see how SAI is spending HIS whole time, whole life without bothering HIS physical discomfort of HIS body. One has to understand the reality of HIS actions and offer his heartful gratiitude to SAI every moment of his life.Otherwise you will be called a double crosser, traitor and so on. I hope we can understand what SAI does for us. With SAI'S Blessings P.S. Its been a few months since Swami has started having Vedas chanted in Prasanthi Nilayam at Darshan time ... Why so much importance has been given to Veda Chanting. The above note is in reply
