Events at Prashanthi Nilayam

27 MAR 2004Swami came for Evening Darshan at 3:00 p.m. Veda chanting went on for

15 minutes. After this, the Primary School Boys gave a program of devotional

music and dance and a drama on the life of 'Meera' till 4:30 p.m. After the

program, they had a photograph session and Swami distributed a lot of gifts to

the participants including watches for many of them. Sweets also were

distributed to the devotees.

28 MAR 2004

 

Morning

 

Swami came for Morning Darshan at 6:55 a.m., and after the veda chanting for 15

minutes, the Primary School Boys gave a program of devotional music and dance

and a drama on the life of 'Meera' till 8:20 a.m. This was followed by a

photograph session with Swami. Swami distributed a lot of gifts to the

participants including watches for many of them. Sweets also were distributed

to the devotees. Swami went to His room after Mangala Aarathi.

 

Afternoon

 

Swami came for Darshan at 3:10 p.m. After listening to the chanting of Vedas,

Swami picked up a few devotees for interview and after the interview came back

at 4:00 p.m. From 4:00 p.m. to 4:10 p.m., the primary school boys group played

on violin a couple of Bhajan Songs and then Mr. Paul Erhardt, who works in the

Music College, gave an instrumental music program of Bhajans on Bass Violin.

Mr. Paul is incidentally the father of the boy who chants Vedas along with the

Veda group. The program was over at 4:40 p.m., and swami gave gifts to the

primary school boys who played on the violin.

29 MAR 2004

 

Events in the afternoon at Prashanthi Nilayam.

Swami came for Darshan at 3:10 p.m. Veda Chanting started immediately. After

about 30 minutes, Swami started distributing gifts to all the primary school

children who were left out yesterday and this went on for more than an hour and

10 minutes. Swami, after the distribution, sat in His Sofa and the Veda chanting

continued till 4:50 p.m., and after Mangala Aarathi, Swami left for

Poornachandra hall. There was a fairly good rain (quite unusual for this

season) for about 30 minutes from 4:10 p.m. It has cooled down considerably

after the rain!

Rama Navami Celebrations

 

Swami came this morning at 7:00 a.m. The Veda Chantings were stopped at 7:10

a.m., and the students from the University gave a program on Rama Navami for

one hour.

 

The program consisted of some narrations from Rama's life and message, short

plays from Ramayana, and Devotional Singing with a few members of the band

playing the drums and saxophone.

 

Swami started the Discourse at 8:15 a.m. and spoke till 9:10 a.m. Swami said

that Rama, Lakshmana, Bharatha and Shtrugna are the four Vedas and Rama took

the Avatar not only to destroy the demons but also to establish Dharma. In Kali

Yuga, the means of reaching God is to do Nama Smarana of Rama Nama (Chanting the

name of Rama). Students should follow the path of Dharma in their life and

follow the example set forth by Rama. He ended the Discourse with a Bhajan

Rama, Rama, Rama, Seetha.

Swami, then, asked the boys to start singing. After a devotional song, the

Bhajans started at 9:20 a.m. Sweets were distributed and Swami was watching the

distribution sitting on the sofa. Bhajans were over with Mangala Aarathi at 9:35

a.m. and Swami went Back to His room.

Swami came for Darshan at 3:30 p.m. Veda Chanting went on till 4:15 p.m. Swami

then asked Sri Anil Kumar to speak to the students which he did. He spoke till

5:00 p.m. stressing the need for the outgoing students to follow swami's

teachings and example wherever they are, citing examples of Swami's Omnipotence

and Omniscience. Swami asked the boys to start the Bhajans at 5:05 p.m. and at

5:20 p.m. Mangala Aarathi was performed and Swami left Sai Kulwant Hall.

31 MAR 2004 - Swami left for Brindavan

 

Swami left for Brindavan this morning at 6:40 a.m. by the white Mercedes Benz Car.

Devotees were waiting in the Sai Kulwant hall from 5:00 a.m. onwards. Swami came

from PC Hall at 6:30 a.m. amidst the chanting of the Vedas and drove near the

lobby near the interview room. Mangala Aarathi was performed there and the car

drove through the usual Darshan route and turned towards to Gopuram gate at

6:40 a.m. and left Prashanthi Nilayam.
