Talking to mediapersons after seeing off Prime Minister Vajpayee at the airport here on Thursday, he said that the Trust had also made drinking water available to the people of Chennai by spending Rs 200 crore under the Saiganga project. He said that the Prime Minister expressed happiness when informed about the service schemes of the Satya Sai Trust. The Trust had also taken up repairs like constructing RCC protection walls and laying cement lining to the canal by spending Rs 200 crore on Kandaleru Project in Nellore district and the Hundi Reservoir near Chennai, to ensure free flow of water to the metropolis, he added. Naidu said that the Trust had spent Rs 300 crore to provide drinking water to 730 villages in Anantapur district, Rs 27 crore in Medak district and Rs 26 crore in Mahboobnagar district. Naidu revealed that a plan was being evolved to develop the spiritual centre – Puttaparthi – into a tourist centre.
