i've tried to play those videos on the amritapuri website many times

before, but they refuse to play on my computer...do you need Quick

time PRO...or should the free version of Quick time work...if anyone

knows? we have a newish Dell (got it around Christmas time), with

windows XP Pro....so the operating system should be up to date.

it's so frustrating to go and look longingly at those possible

videos and want to play them, and then to be unable...Amma's lovely

leelas i guess....

Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!

Namaskarams!

i do have the free edition of Quick Time 7.0.4...have even tried

following their instructions for what to do if operating behind a

firewall (which we do have)...still no luck...i guess that Amma is

playing hide and seek again...mostly "hide"... and i seek and seek and

seek...She's probably laughing at me right now!! (not that i mind too

much...i KNOW i'm a pretty "funny" son of Hers...and that She is

perfectly justified in giving me as hard a time as She

likes)...stilll....i would love to see those videos...

what is strange is that She has NEVER allowed me to see ANY of their

videos at the amritapuri website...they just NEVER will play...

in Her Love,

and in Her Service too...

longingly,

frustrated and disappointed.

Om Namah Shivaya, all sufferers of computer problems,

I work with problems like this in my work, part of my job being

supporting our ISP as well as my other duties. I thought I'd check

this out and see what i could come up with to help. First of all, I

went to the video site and clicked on the first one and it worked

fine. I use Firefox as my default browser and I would recommend all

to use it instead of MS Internet Explorer, the default browser that

comes with Windows. It can be downloaded for free from

http://www.mozilla.com/

The next thing i did was to load up IE and try it with that, and just

like many folks here, all i got was a broken Quicktime icon. Also a

popup came up that said i had to click it to install an ActiveX

control. Clicking it did nothing. The first thing i tried was to go

to the Tools-Internet Options menu and pick the security tab. I then

dropped the settings to "default" level. Still no video. So I played

with about a bazillion of the setings to no avail. That's why i don't

use it.

I tested it with Netscape and it works fine also. Although I had to

go in to the popup blocker and tell it to allow popups from the site.

Netscape can be downloaded for free from http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/

By the way, I am using the Quicktime version 6.5.

You may have to reinstall Quicktime after downloading a new browser to

make sure the Quicktime plug-in gets installed. If you install

Quicktime, then install a new browser, the plug-in won't be installed

for the new browser, only what it saw on your system when it

installed. If i remember correctly (IIRC in computer person talk)

when the quicktime installs, it popped up a window asking about which

browsers to install the plug-in into.

So the bottom line would be to install Firefox or Netscape. That is

my recommendation. It will ask you if you want to import all your IE

settings, like your bookmarks/favorites, so you won't lose all those

sites you have bookmarked.

Always keep your computer clean of beasties, they can cause problems

like this too. I recommend going to http://www.bitdefender.com/ and

clicking on the "Scan Online" link on the left below the menu. This

one requires Internet Explorer due to ActiveX controls to run the

scan. This will find all the little monsters that have invaded your

computer ad clean them up for you, even ones your Norton, etc. have

missed. Quite an eye-opener for some of us that think we are running

a tight ship.

Oh and it helps to do all this while listening to some truly

incredible and inspiring music from Shimshai and Tina Malia, like

their new CD "Jaya Bhagavan", like I am now. Their website is

http://www.shimshai.com. I also love the "Live on Maui" CD and the

first track on that one, "Mother of my Soul" sends me into Amma bliss

whenever i play it. If you follow the CD links to the CD Baby

website, you can sample the tracks. Here is the link to "Mother of my

Soul" http://cdbaby.com/mp3lofi/shimshai3-02.m3u. I hear he is a

devotee and is from the Santa Cruz area. Do any of you Bay Area

devotees know (of) him?

Hope that helps some to see the videos, and if not, maybe the music

will help soothe your computer problems.

Mike

The video clips at http://videos.amritapuri.org/2006/

didn't play at all with Billy-boy Gates suckey

bug-riddled Exploder.. could view them with Netscape,

but they took some 10 minutes to fully buffer, with a

DSL connection.. and that is for a video that only

runs a couple minutes! so if you're having problems

viewing the video, use Netscape (or Firefox) and you

might want to wait a while. And don't even think

about viewing this kind of content if you still have

dial-up.

maybe the computer geeks in Amritapuri should add a

note to this page "best viewed with Netscape 7.0 or

higher, or Firefox".

btw, where did they hold the Mumbai program? It looks

like an airplane hangar!

Well, Its definitely not a hangar!. Look at other

videos too, esp the ones from Karwar & Kottakal. I am

just amazed at how the volunteers can build such huge

temporary structure for each of Amma's tour stops in

India.

3 places:

Shivaji Park, a huge cricket training ground.

another one in the North-west suburbs.

a 3rd venue was Amma's Mumbai ashram.

the clip seems to be from the 1st venue.
