But I am wanting to know and read more on Hinduism. It is so rich and full of beautiful, magnificent stories. What would be a good book to read? I have read the Bhagavad Gita. I studied Eastern Religions waaaay back when I was in college and it made so much sense to me. Then I got into hatha yoga. But what else would be good to read? I think of the Gopis longing for Krishna and as a woman, could relate so well to those times in my life when I had been in love and longing for "him." All of that longing was in vain! It was for my "real" Beloved! Dear Adriane ~ Here is the description of the Chandi Path on Shree Maa's website :::hiding behind my protective Goddess Armor, just in case::: "The Chandi Path is the story of how She manifests in the lives of devotees to facilitate the recapture of divine authority from the demonic forces, to fill our lives with love, respect, devotion and a sense of meaningful purpose. In studying the Chandi Path we learn how to create a balance between Two Little and Too Much, how to surrender the arrogance of the Great Ego, and how to cut through the selfishness of Self Conceit and Self Deprecation. Also included are the Prayoga and Upasamhara Pujas." I wish I could personally put the entire text of the Chandi into the word file I will be creating in our files section, but just putting "The Armor of the Goddess" is a bit daunting, and I have committed to do at least that much, since I received a request to do so. There will be a post in the next digest about how I am going to proceed with this. In terms of other things to read, there are, of course, so many wonderful books on Amma's website. The one other book I would highly recommend (also available from Shree Maa's website) is the "Cosmic Puja." I have only started reading this, but it is a scriptural text and puja that not only relates to the Goddess, but is also a prayer for the healing of Mother Earth. There is also a lovely Ganesh puja incorporated into the "Cosmic Puja." Here is what the blurb on the Shree Maa site says about the "Cosmic Puja." Derived from the Chandi Path, the Cosmic Puja describes methods of worship the Divine Mother in her forms as Mahalakshmi, Mahasarasavati and Mahakali. Included is the "Panch Devata Puja," the worship of the five divisions of the Hindu Dharma: Shiva, Shakti, Vishu, Ganesh, and the nine planets. Other pujas, not widely available, are the Yantra Puja, Agni Prajvalitam (enkindling of sacred fire), Nyasas of Matrika, Bahya Matrika and many more. Even though, as it says, it derives from the Chandi, there are other elements, like the Ganesh puja, which are not in the Chandi. Also, the mention of the 9 Planets is quite significant, especially for healing. My sister asked her guru what she should do to help get better, and he said, "Recite the 9 Planets Mantras." (Okay ~ if anyone wants me to post these, I will also put these up on the Files page.) I know the Chandi Path is available both at Shree Maa's bookstore and on Amazon.com. And before anybody lobs any verbal missiles at me for mentioning Shree Maa, let me just say, these texts do not belong to any one guru. They are ancient Hindu texts, and they belong to everyone. If you visit Shree Maa's website (and then click on bookstore on the left side listing), you will find many more wonderful books. Most of these are pujas. I recommend the Beginner Pujas at first for anyone who is interested. Here is the link: _http://www.shreemaa.org/drupal/_ (http://www.shreemaa.org/drupal/) Again, these texts are ancient and belong to everyone. Jai all gurus for their unique contributions to our lives ~ Linda P.S. Of course, there also all the wonderful books by Linda Johnsen. If you do a search under author on Amazon.com, you will see the wonderful books she has contributed.
