Dear Ones,

Years ago, when it looked like my mother was dying, I was called

back to her bedside. I was called away from the feet of my guru.

When my mother saw me, her eyes grew bright and she recovered a

little. I stayed at home with her for many months. She could not

recover entirely. Her lungs were too badly damaged. My mom knew

only that I was home and she was happy. For me, the separation from

my teacher was very hard and yet I also knew that there was no one

else who could help my mother. During the time I was home. one of

the other devotees who was still with our guru, wrote me frequent

letters. She sent poems, photographs of our teacher and the

others. She even sent notes from class and constant love and

encouragement. Her letters made it possible for me to be away and

to help my mother lovingly.

Due to this experience in my own life, I know how healing and

helpful loving letters of support can be when someone is ill,

grieving or isolated. Amma's seva program called Circle of Love

Letters really brings Amma's loving touch to many who need it.

Corynne Wilson from New Jersey who has been both a letter writer and

recipients wrote about her participation in Circle of Love Letters

"It has been such a gift to be able to be part of the Circle of Love

program. This summer after seeing Amma in Toronto, my intention to

be of service to others in a way that I could also deepen my

relationship with Amma was realized through this program. I am

grateful for all the support and words of wisdom and caring that I

receive through the letters, as well as the opportunity to make a

difference in someone else's life through my words."

Do you like to write? Have you enjoyed getting letters in the past--

before email? Could you write a few letters of love and

encouragement to Amma's children who need a little kindness? Please

contact me privately and I'll tell you more about this wonderful

seva.

Blessings!

Aikya
