Guest guest
Dear Adriane ~ I found this so touching, beautiful and real that I will have another wonderful reminder of what's important to copy and tape to my fridge (not magnetic type, so I have to use tape ... the fridge isn't quit full yet). Your words about sharpening the sword for the battle to destroy the ego is right out of the Chandi Path, even if you've never read it. Here are a few verses to illustrate: devi kruddha gadapataish churnayamasacoddhatam l bashkalam bindipalena banaistamram kandhakam ll Striking angrily with Her club, the Goddess reduced Arrogance to powder. Memories was cut by the sword, and Anxiety and Blindness by Her arrows. .... bidalasyasina kayat payayamane vai svasaineai shiraha l durdharam durmukham cobhau sharairininyai yamakshayam ll Hypocrisy's head was cut by the sword, and Irresistible Temptation and Foul Mouth were both sent to the Kingdom of Death by Her arrows. This is only a small part of the battle of the Goddesses against the army of the Great Ego and Negative Thoughts. One of the things I love is the specificity of the thought or attitude being slain, like Arrogance or Hypocrisy. How wonderful to know we have these Goddesses who will help rid us of our negativaties, and Amma, as the embodiment of all, conducts the battle in Her own way and on various planes of being. Blessings ~ Linda Adriane wrote: May I always seek Amma's grace as a new child, as a beginner. Please Amma, make me as a small child. May I have a child's innocence and wonder. May Amma always whittle me down so that my ego will not ever be the splinter I seek to remove from another, but instead from my own eye. May all my defenses abandon me-for I have nothing to defend in the Infinite. For the mind is the curse and ..the ultimate battle of the ego. Let me seek not to be "right" in an ego battle, but to sharpen the sword for the battle to destroy my ego. Let me be a reed of grass that gently bends to the will of the wind for there is nothing to defend. May our minds settle into no thoughts, nothingness so that we can finally "BE." Guest guest
Dear Linda, These passages were really interesting. I did not know of the Chandi Path. What is that? I don't really know a whole lot at all. I know bits and pieces of things-like Kali has a sword. And isn't Devi a sweeter version of the Goddess? I know a wee bit...pee wee! LOL...However, I am not drawn into organized religion at all. There is so much dogmatism and boy,a lot of judgement of others and separation. I think it's called duality! But it did give me my "roots" so that is good. But I am wanting to know and read more on Hinduism. It is so rich and full of beautiful, magnificent stories. What would be a good book to read? I have read the Bhagavad Gita. I studied Eastern Religions waaaay back when I was in college and it made so much sense to me. Then I got into hatha yoga. But what else would be good to read? I think of the Gopis longing for Krishna and as a woman, could relate so well to those times in my life when I had been in love and longing for "him." All of that longing was in vain! It was for my "real" Beloved! Guest guest
Dear Adriane, have you read the Sufi mystic poets? The best I've read on the Beloved (because Sufism is so deeply rooted in the concept of God as Beloved) has been written by Rumi, Hafiz, Yunus Emre, Rabia. Also Kabir, who is sort of a blend of both Sufi and Hindu. Blessings, Iswari Ammachi, "Adriane" <a1driane wrote: > But what else would be good to read?
