Guest guest
The sun is far away, but the lotus blossoms when the sun's rays reach it. Scientific knowledge alone will not make us happy. In today's technological age, we can give our bodies more rest, but what about our minds? In olden days people lived principled lives and could deal with difficulties. People who are weak can't deal with major difficulties. The primary goal of education should be to impart cultural heart. Material and spiritual life are really one. No knowledge is complete without knowlege of one's own true nature. There was once a supercomputer that no one could stump. Everyone tried asking questions, but they couldn't stump it. Then a child asked it, "How are you today?" The computer had no answer. Most of us are like that. We gather informaion about the world but miss our inner connection. If we have the right attitude, the master will remove all obstacles. Like a rocket, we need a booster rocket to get us out of orbit and into space. The spiritual master will get us out of orbit and let us go straight to the goal. It is our ego that keeps us from getting along with others. Amma says to develop a child-like heart. The head relates to intellect, the hands to skills, but don't neglect the heart. Real beauty lies in communication between hearts. Be ever so mindful. We can make a positive change in our destiny. Hang on to the Lord's feet during trying times. Ego brings bad karma. All our actions should bring joy and happiness to others. The fruits of karma can manifest in different ways. 1. The kind that can be fixed by an "operation." 2. The kind that can be partly fixed, but not eliminated. 3. The kind that can't be changed. The past is a cancelled check; the future is a question for which there is no answer. We have the present. Negative thoughts can be replace by positive energy. Negativity is like putting salty water into pure water. To get closer to God we need to develop real longing. This longing is the key that will open the treasure chest of our hearts. The world is temporary, like a bird perched on a dry twig. The world can disappear at any time. But the Creator and creation are one. Parent's now forget to spend time with their children. Mothers should give their children a lot of love until age 5, then raise them with discipline. We should have gratitude in life. The earth and nature are our mother. Try to relieve the suffering of others. What we give determines the worth of our life. Love is the true beauty of life. Love never complains. (There was more here that I didn't get, but it sounded very much like I Corinthians 13 to me. Perhaps it would do us all good to reread that.) There is only one in true love. Divine Love is knowledge, liberation, and bliss. Amma prays that all her children become lamps shedding light in the world. Aum Amriteshwariyea Namah.
