Guest guest
Hi all, I was hoping someone could give me some info on Amma's public programs. Im trying to convince my mum to come with me and she wants to know how long the program goes for and what exactly it entails? Shes on chemotherapy at the moment and gets pretty tired sometimes. Im hoping to go on Wednesday. If anyone can tell me how the programs are (as Ive never been) I would really appreciate it. Thanks Love Val
Guest guest
Hi. The public programs in Melbourne are on Tuesday and Wednesday at Kingston Town Hall (Moorabin) on the corner of South Road and Nepean Highway. The times for both days are 10.00am and 7.30pm. The morning programs are usually quieter than the evening programs. There are more talks and singing in the evening. The morning program lasts until maybe two or three in the afternoon and the evening program can go til 12.00 or 1.00am. You are free to move around and look at things and can even get a meal and a cup of tea. There will also be a bookshop. Darshan is the main part of the program. This is where Amma individually hugs everyone who wants a hug. If your mother is not well there is a special needs line on the side which has chairs and the wait is not so long. You would be able to go in that line. Otherwise the line goes down the middle and involves sitting on the floor. Not so good for the elderly and the sick. So you can come anytime and stay for as little or as long as you like. If you do decide to come go to the information table and they can help you more. Ask for me and I'll come and say hullo. Guest guest
Dear Val. If you mum is ill, you should tell the people helping organize the lines. They can help you get a seat in the hall and you can get Amma¹s hug without waiting in the long line. Newcomers also get priority. Amma starts the darshan (receiving people for hugs) right after a short meditation in the morning. In the evening there is a 2 hour program with 2 talks (Amma and a devotee both talk) and some devotional singing. If you do go, please write us about your experience!
