(It's interesting that this facet of Islam is never mentioned in the news ) That's as I understand it anyway. The most famous Qawwali singer in the west would have to be Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who passed away in 1997. His voice was amazing, and I understand he was practically revered as a saint in his native Pakistan. The voice of the qawwali singer carries the listeners into a state of grace and direct communication with the beloved, or God. There are lots of CDs out there! Angela.
