Guest guest
I actually ran out of time before giving my opinion on this matter, but in the end, I think certain things like this speak for themselves. I don't like to approach Amma with any questions, as I've seen sincere people get no answer. I've also personally experienced where some devotees will question the wording of an Amma answer if they personally don't agree with it. Back when I re-did the satsang format for DC, I had made a paper and cassette packet called, "Westerners Guide to Ammachi Satsangs" or something like that and got it blessed. But because no actual word was given, locals were suspect and hesitant to allow it to be sold at satsang, even though it would've helped anyone learn the prayers and format for satsang. I had submitted the packet to Swami P at the time, but I only saw a year later that they did a VHS version (Chants and Meditation) which was opposite my simple and accessible approach. Here's some other things I forgot to mention about the meetings: I never did attend the 3rd meeting, as the actions during the first two revealed Dayamrita's approach, which i felt was harmful and counterproductive. A take on D's humility: Anytime a large group gets together, it's very valuable time. At that second meeting, we had wasted 30 minutes on a devotee giving an elaborate introduction to Dayamrita, and then Dayamrita actually giving a small talk/story about his experiences with Amma as if it were a satsang. This meeting was a "business meeting", but he allowed it to be focused on him for 30 minutes, a waste of valuable time. Secondly, IF HE WERE TRULY HUMBLE and worth the "respect" so many give him, then during this meeting, he would have sat "with us" in a circle or semi-circle, instead of on a peeta on stage as if during a satsang. Logistically, it was difficult to hear people speaking if they were in front of you. Had "D" been among us, seated in a close knit "family" fashion, I think it would have had a greater impact, and communicated a genuine desire to fix things. Side Note on the old satsang leader for DC: way back '97 in a meeting I had asked how she became the leader. This was the response: "Amma put me in charge." So I asked when and where this took place, out of curiousity. Again, "Uhm... Amma put me in charge." Yes, but exactly how did it happen, did she suddenly appoint you, or what? Again, "Uhm... Amma put me in charge." Personally, if Amma put me in charge of an entire region it would have been a momentous, if not memorable, event in my life. Like I said, if I wanted to talk to robots, I'd go to satsang in the washington dc area. "In essence", nothing's really changed at the satsangs here, just who's in charge. I'm only sharing this information so devotees know what kind of "funny business" can happen if you get deeply involved with the physical organizations. regards, tom
