Or should someone not give their opinion on it, and just state the facts? A group of Amma devotees existed in the Wash DC area prior to the offiical added tour stop of '97. But since then, the (supposedly Amma chosen) individual in charge had caused lots of problems, which would be too numerous to mention here and now. I've since found out that some people had approached Dayamrita (2002 or '03) about all the probelms. Dayamrita talked to Amma about it. Dayamrita held an "Invitation Only" meeting in 2003, to discuss the problems. I wasn't there, so this is from what people told me: People were asked by Dayamrita to air their grievances. People did. (I'll add that in this type of situation, people usually only air them in hopes of having them addressed, not shoved under the mat as in politics). Dayamrita then declared, "Ok, that's the past. Let it go. We need to focus on the future". What happens when we forget history? Those who fail to remember, repeat it. You can't fix something if you're choosing to ignore it. A second open-to-all meeting occured prior to a satsang he was to give. During this meeting, more concerns were aired, and also we broke into groups to brainstorm topics and their past, present, and future state. IMHO, this was something that could have been brought by devotees,prepared. A local devotee had prepared a printed agenda for the meeting, that included a discussion of what had occurred at the first (invite only) meeting. Dayamrita, having received the agenda, did not reject it. We did not discuss the first meeting. The meeting ran short of time. After the meeting, Dayamrita picked 2 devotees to become the new leaders (why didn't he do it AT THE MEETING?) Do you read Her teachings ~ "Awaken Children" especially Chap 2, Vol VI; both vols VI and VII, I feel would be very beneficial for you to read. Concerning you questions below ~ it all depends on your intent and attitude. But in general, here is what Amma says : "Do not increase your sorrows by sharing them with others. Tell them to God and try to solve them. If we share our sorrows with the Universal Being, we will get Eternal Peace." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol. 1p10 (0264) Even though Amma words above are best, still it may be OK to share some problems at Satsang; it all depends. And the Awaken Children Volumes are full of contradictory teachings, that can be applied to support either side. I agree about sharing your problems, as this was one growing problem at some of the satsangs. Hard to focus on God when everyone's complaining. The unofficial SSB group in Arlington, VA (now defunct) that had introduced many to Amma had a prayer circle. Definitely hard to stay positive when someone's dog has died, and their mother just had a bad car accident, etc. Also, there is Dharma involved. For example, in certain Catholic orders, the only time that's open to conversation is recreation, and all conversation is "open" (addressed to anyone/everyone). Therefore, sharing problems in such a place makes community life depressing.
