Guest guest
THU Mar 16 - 1am in the morning at Supriti's house - the coolest Amma moment, my favorite TV show is called Survivor - it is a reality TV show that takes a couple dozen people away into the wilderness (this season show is Panama Exile Island - they are left on a beach (usually split into teams of four or 8 people that complete against each other) they drop them on the beach with only what they can carry which isn't much - for 30 days they complete for a million dollar prize. They have to win games (physical combat type stuff like shooting a coconut from a catapult out to their team mates who have to catch the coconut and put it in the basket first team with 10 coconuts in the basket wins) - simple games but hard - the prizes are food, water and tools for survival like fishing gear and pots to cook in and fire making flint. So anyway last night after work I was watching my show, I always tape it, it was a summary show and they weren't doing the actual survivor program, just recapping some "moments" they hadn't shown on the regular show during the season. So this one group of "young women" (they started the show by setting up four teams, young women older women young men older men) was getting acquainted and the film was to show how they did that. It showed these four young women under a leanto built of bamboo poles and palm fronds and the rain was pouring down, on an island off of Panama in the middle of nowhere, and they were teaching each other songs from other countries in foreign languages. They sang a song together in Spanish first. Then the one girl named Sally starts teaching a song singing "shakti kundalini jagadambi mata" in a tune I recognized! I was thinking like - NO WAY, that's an Amma song! Then they showed Sally saying, "it is so incredible to be out here and be hungry and cold and tired and be so happy" - then the film cut back to them singing another song together in tune and melody I recognized "Durga Devi namo namah" - I was like OMG Amma is there!!! It was so exciting to see that Amma was there - it was Amma songs on national TV! You could tell Sally was thinking about Amma too, she had that look of love on her face. Cool huh! I hope she wins.... Om Namashivaya - In Amma's service, Supriti Omenka Nnadi
Guest guest
Wow! How truly wonderful to hear those Devi songs on TV. I wonder if Sally, off camera, told them who her inspiration was.
