Why do children fight?

Yesterday, I watched a man die for the first time. It will not be my

last. It changed me forever. I did not stand idly by. We fought for

his life for over an hour. In the end, Om Namah Shivaya brought me

peace. It was the only thing I could think of.

I came home, hoping to find evidence of peace and love and hope.

Instead I found fighting: my siblings against my mother, my peers at

school against the faculty, my country against anyone/everyone, my

brothers and sister in Amma against each other.

And I wept. I still weep. This life is a precious gift. Too

precious to be wasted with the bickering of the ego, the need to be

'right', the need to be superior. These all lead to suffering. We

are here, I believe, to have the experience of fellowship, love, peace

and each other. With out another, we cannot experience the Oneness of

the Self that can be. The separateness gives us the desire for

Oneness. There can be no light without dark, no day without night.

My beloved brothers and sisters, we have experienced the separateness

and fighting. Can we not now embrace the Oneness in Amma's grace, and

stop all the fighting?

Dear All,

Thank you so very much, Mikki, for sharing. What you wrote was

powerful and loving at the same time. Hope we all take it to heart.

Jesus said, "He who is without sin cast the first stone," and Amma

and other saints say the same thing. Sure been a lot of stone

throwing lately, and like others, wish it would stop. We ALL say

things that we don't really mean, things that others put the wrong

emphasis upon, things that sound worse in print than what was really

in our minds and hearts. We are ALL cranky from time to time, have a

slip of the tongue or keyboard, and say things that are

misunderstood. Let it be. Remember that old little book from the

70s, I'm OK You're OK? Let's let it be because we're ALL OK.

For all,

thank you
