Guest guest
Dayamrita chants it smoothly like any dedicated Brahmachari should, daily I'm guessing. The overlapping of 108 names and the respons (OAN), if done correctly (gradual overlapping, speeding up) is the best for concentration, similar to hypnotic induction to a deep state. There's a good recording of Amma's 108 w/responses on the Puja cassette. Hearing his satsang is why I re-vamped the format back then to Amma's 108, but a few years ago after the re-organizational meeting, I suggested alternating the Devi 108 (of the 1000, not the real) and Amma's 108 because not everyone saw Amma as their personal guru. It was at this meeting someone asked if the Ganesh bhajan should be first, or the guru bhajan, and Dayamrita said "guru bhajan". This again, is out of touch with the people, and should be alternated with the Devi/Amma names to reach and serve both demographics. But hey, I'm used to people ignoring me. For the LS, it's quality over quantity, so I'm always shocked when people try to rush it. The LS is a true sacrifice to chant it, especially daily or more. tom Ammachi, "joannapollner" <joannapollner wrote:> > WOW , ok i went to Satsang conducted by Swami Dayamitra , I must say I was impressed by > His chanting 108 Amma's names ( I mean fluency wise , it seemed like one string of > sentence with the combination of Aum Amriteshwaraye Namaha , it was beautiful so > powerful ) . Amma herself starts with a ganesh bhajan first, but Br. Dayamrita says to start with a guru bhajan. interesting. It is clear that he practises 'Guru is verily God, so Guru first'. > This again, is out of touch with the people, and should be > alternated with the Devi/Amma names to reach and serve both > demographics. Guest guest
The normal tradition is Ganesh first, then Guru, then XXX, but I can't imagine there is harm in ever putting one's Guru first. The important thing is that we do our practice, whatever it is. - manoj_menon Ammachi Wednesday, March 08, 2006 11:47 AM Re: Dayamrita/Amma 108 Ammachi, "Tom" <tomgull wrote: > It was at this meeting someone asked if the Ganesh bhajan should > be first, or the guru bhajan, and Dayamrita said "guru bhajan". Guest guest
Maybe I am out of point. But since Amma does not have a Guru, won’t you think it’s more appropriate for Amma to start of with a Ganesh bhajan first? As for us, we should place Guru above all else. I think. Guest guest
Each has their own opinion. But there is a traditional approach and that comes from traditions that also had gurus and lineages of gurus. - Kysdonn Ammachi Wednesday, March 08, 2006 3:18 PM RE: Re: Dayamrita/Amma 108 Maybe I am out of point. Guest guest
As another point of reference, I don't chant the LS quickly because I'm trying to "rush it," but because I just get into a rhythm and it happens to flow at a certain pace .
