weird dream

Again with a weird dream, this time not really Amma-related, but

Hindu-relevant none-the-less. I was at this giant marble temple with golden and

pink

lotuses covering the roof and I was one of two people doing Puja outside and no

matter what I did, I could not do it right, messed up on every step horribly,

though the other person went smoothly and completely ignored me, the head

lady was getting irritated with me, but didn't say anything and finally I

grabbed by puja guide book from Amma's store and it ended. lol

Just thought I'd share, it was really weird to me, not sure if it has any

meaning.

yeah, I always feel a bit inadequate when I do puja, not just because of my

not having any professional teaching by a pujari or anyone of that nature

(just my Amma-based puja book and casette), I also can't always get the

supplies. I have no ghee, no clue on how to use half of the lamps and usually

don't

have access to flowers where I am.

My heart is in it, but I can't help but wonder if it's enough or will be

accepted for not being quite right. Of course this partially comes from having a

Pagan background, where a lot of times, presentation is everything and you

have to do ritual stuff to a T with no misses or alterations or else it can

cause adverse effects to how a god will accept it or the effects of the ritual.

Namah Shivaya,

Maybe you're worried about doing puja correctly? If you are just doing

puja from devotion, it doesn't really matter how you do it. It just

comes from the heart.

Oooh, I've never heard of that, well rather not by it's proper name. I'll

definitely have to go for that a bit more, definitely more along the lines of

what I'm good at.

I have an older copy of the puja book, and it says that if you don't

have the actual article (flowers, ghee) that you can go through the

motions and imagine you have the real thing. It's a situation of what

is happening in your mind and heart is way more important than what is

happening on the "outside."

Mother used to (may still) talk about manasa puja, where you visualize a

whole sequence of things such as bathing your beloved and dressing

him/her, and offering flowers and water, etc. It is very powerful. And

it all happens inside.
