Guest guest
Received the following e-mail today... Namah Shivaya- Regarding little Jake, here is an update from my friend. -Kirtana I want to thank everyone who was sending prayers, wishes and positive energy Jacob's way. They have been able to stabilize him and have begun putting him back together -- from what I understand, most of his face was completely destroyed by the virus. According to my co-instructor, Adela, though he is not out of the woods yet and can still use prayers, the possibility that he will live is looking much better and he is in very good hands at Children's Hospital. Adela sends her thanks, as well.

Dear Kirtana, Jai Ma! It never ceased to amaze me, as coordinator of the prayer list, when I received note after note that Amma had hear someone's prayer and their situation or condition had been relieved. As the bhajan says, She truly is "the Mother of all." I don't know if any of you here saw the online article that had pictures of little Jake before and after he had been stricken by this terrible disease, but I did and my heart was torn by seeing and knowing what this little boy was going through. I am so glad that he is stabilized and that the marvelous doctors are working to "put him back together." It will take many more prayers, and I would like to suggest that Jake be left on the prayer list indefinitely. When he continues to heal, the doctors will have to deal with the destruction of his face. We now know that medicine can do face replacements. I didn't know whether to be astounded, joyful or horrified when I heard this news. A woman who was mauled by a dog and basically had no face, had a face replacement. Perhaps they will have to do something like this for Jake. Or it may just be many many operations, taking his own skin to rebuild his face. This little boy is going to be going through a lot for a long time to come. It is like the tsunami. People have mostly forgotten, but those who had their homes and lives destroyed still need help. That is why, recently, there was another auction on the M.A. Center website. The tragedy is over; people forget. It is happening with Katrina too, but thankfully there are many people who are outraged over the lack of response, and they are not letting us forget. Similarly with Jake, we hear he is doing better, even though he is not out of the wood. We can't forget about Jake. This will affect every aspect of this little boy's life. It will affect his psychology and self-esteem. He may not be able to go to a regular school, and, if he does, his classmates may not understand and may make fun of him. Even when Jake is out of the woods, even when he is out of the hospital, he will still need our prayers. Jai Amma for this miraculous news. Let us keep our prayers flowing ~ Linda
