Guest guest
You make a good point. Although i agree with Amma's statement of how anybody would be upset by a rude/offensive depiction of their religious/spiritual leader ( for example, Mohammed, Jesus, Buddha etc) I cant help but wonder: Why is it that when an Islamic prophet or spiritual leader is offended, they (Muslims)react violently. You rarely hear of other 'followers' of a prophet reacting violently to an offense on their spiritual leader/prophet...Is this simply an onservation made because perhaps the media mostly covers Muslim behaviours (especially) in recent times, or is this something that others have noticed. By the way, I do not mean any offense to Muslims at all...I understand that they are upset by the cartoon. What i don't understand is why no other religious groups ( for example Hindus- as you have mentioned have had their Goddesses drawn in a rude manner) seem to react violently. Just wondering what everone else thinks of this. Love to all! Guest guest
Val, It would be easy to understand if we look at the Samskaras(natural inclinations of the mind) of the people who follow eastern religions like Hinduism/Buddhism vs. people who follow Judeo-Christian religions such as Islam, Christianity. Eastern religions are feminine/passive and Judeo-Christian religions are masculine/aggressive. I remember when I was growing up my elders would say - if someone tries to harm you ignore because their karma(bad karma) will take care of it. This is the feminine attitude. Whereas Christian/Muslimes behave completely differently because of their samskaras. Neither is superior or inferior and Hinduism doesn't judge anyhting. Even in Hindus there were Kshatriyas who were the warrior class. But you have to agree feminine is more powerful witness Gandhi achieving independence for India from the mighty British. OTOH Judeo-Christian mindset is responsible for the mess the world finds itself in currently. Ammachi, "vals_052" <vals_052 wrote: > > > You make a good point. Guest guest
namah sivaya actually recently there is such a case with hindus. a muslim artist has drawn various depictions of hindu goddesses and gods and raised the wrath of some. see below: *Hindu group offers Rs 51 cr for Hussain's head* *Press Trust of India* *Lucknow/ Indore, February 22:* The Hindu Personal Law Board on Thursday announced a Rs 51 crore reward for eliminating artist M F Hussain and others while a Congress Minority Cell leader offered Rs 11 lakh to any 'patriot' chopping off the painter's hands for hurting Hindu sentiments. "Anyone who kills Hussain for making obscene paintings of Goddess Sarswati and Bharat Mata, the Danish cartoonist, those in the German company printing pictures of Ram and Krishna on tissue paper and the French filmmaker desecrating Lord Shiva will be given Rs 51 crore in cash by the board," its president Ashok Pandey said in a statement in Lucknow. If Uttar Pradesh Haj Minister Yaqoob Qureshi undertook the job 'he will be given Rs 101 crore', it added cryptically. "Peace will not prevail on earth unless such people are eliminated," he said and urged Qureshi to set out on the mission. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee Minority Cell vice-chairman Akthar Baig in a statement in Indore said the painter had 'played with the sentiments of the people and tried to disrupt communal harmony in the past by painting nude pictures of Hindu gods and goddess and now of Bharat Mata'. It would be in the 'interest of the nation if a patriot will chop off his hands. I will give that person Rs 11 lakh', he said. The Congress leader asked the government to take back all the honours bestowed on the noted painter and declare him a 'traitor'. Baig had earlier filed a petition in an Indore court against Bollywood actor Dharmendra's purported second marriage to Hema Malini. -- Be Love, Egyirba -=-=- .... 0247."Children, try to be humble. Guest guest
This really makes me sad. It seems like the "eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth" philosophy pervades most of the world's religions. We should pay more attention to Amma's teachings such as above ~ contemplate, pray for understanding and practice the teaching rather than try to understand the madness of the world. Don't we have difficulty in understanding even our own madness ? With all our education and degrees, we still have problems even communicating with each other. Let us all try harder, PLEASE ! It is not the intellect and understanding, but Heart, Forgiveness, Humility, Peace that are important. my 2cents Amma's Blessings, amarnath May All People Everywhere Be Peaceful and Happy ! Guest guest
I am not sure that this is really true. Christ never taught aggression at all. We cannot help those who use religion in the wrong way. It might be better to say "some who follow..." rather than everyone. And it could be that Mary Magdalen was one of Christ's closest disciples. Being raised Catholic and a woman...I thought...I don't know that I agree with that. (smile) The Mystic Christ is an incredible book about non-duality and Christ's teachings. Excellent!! Some have mentioned it on here before. I loved it! When somebody touches it, you feel the pain. And if the touch is hard, pus and blood will come out, creating more pain. Yes, anger is a deep, infected wound. It is a disease and needs to be treated. It needs your compassion and loving attention. Therefore, when someone gets angry, remember that he is a sick person. Do not make him more sick; do not let more pus and blood flow out of his wound. Do not make him experience more pain by pressing and squeezing harder and harder.
