Dear Sweta and Tom ~ if I read Tom's post correctly, I don't believe this was intended to be cynical, but more a reflection that, because so many of the devotees had the means to follow Amma around the country and receive her darshan in city after city, there was a sense that the satsang wasn't that important. More a statement of fact, I believe. I experienced something very similar to what you described of your friend, Sweta. I had been helping my sister (who now has become a Shree Maa devotee, but who still sees Amma every year) with the satsang newsletter. I was actually doing most of the work in terms of layout and editing. There was going to be a planning meeting for that year's upcoming tour, and my sister invited me to come. She was instructed (ordered) to contact me and tell me that I could not come. I was simply astonished. In the first place, I've been involved with a lot of volunteer organizations and nonprofits, and the last thing you want to do is to turn away someone who is already helping and wants to help more. Sheesh. But I was not allowed to go. So, Tom, I really do understand the barrier you face. It is unfortunate.
