Guest guest
Hi Val, I read your post today. I don't always read all the posts, which come in digest form. It's just too much sometimes. But today I read yours and wish to say welcome to the group. I live in Hawaii and was thinking of coming down for Mother's Oz tour. (maybe not Perth, but the rest of it.) Perhaps I will meet you there. My suggestion to you, as far as introducing your family to Amma, is to purchase a video and let them watch it. River of Love is a good introductory one because it explains who Amma is, in terms of her history and childhood. When one sees the enormous amount of devotees she has, how they come to her in throngs, her tireless attendance to them, etc. it makes quite an impression and is abundantly clear that she's not just "some other ordinary teacher." You might try to contact the Melbourne satsang members and see if they have materials to lend or sell. It's much easier to get people to sit and watch a video, than get them to read books. Also, contact the Melbourne satsang, simply for the reason satsang (keeping company with like-minded people)! Perhaps you can do some seva (selfless service), too, in preparation for Mother's upcoming visit. It is when we are crippled with our own pain that seva can really help lift us out of the mire. My sister has recently been diagnosed with cancer, and I wish to bring her to see Amma in Seattle in June. When your loved one is ailing, as your mother is, this would be such a wonderful, healing gift. And how peoples hearts and minds open to new, if not unconventional experiences, when faced with adversities... I cannot wait for you to meet Mother in person. How lucky you are that she will come to your city in the very near future! It is quite often life-changing. It seems that it is divine providence that has brought you to Amma, which, actually, is probably the case with all of us. Om Namah Shivaya Sarah << Hi all my name is val. ive just joined this group hoping to gain more knowledge about Amma. I stumbled upon something about Her online a couple of months back when i was typing desperate words into the search engine trying to find something that would help me cope with the pain of having a very sick mother (its difficult to even type that). i noticed Her but didnt . A couple of weeks later i was walking around at a book sale and my eye caught sight of a book cover with Her face...i bought the book, read it and have now ordered a few more books and items from Her shop..i feel Amma is the answer to my prayers for help however im unsure how to proceed from here.. I live in Melbourne Australia and plan to go to Her program in April- i want to tell my mother about Her and somehow get my whole family to read Her books but i dont know how to approach it without them thinking that She is just some other ordinary spiritual leader. I feel a growing admiration (even Love) toward Amma just from having read 2 books so far, so i really want to involve my family.. so that they too can feel Her Love.. my family needs this desperately. Any advice that you can give me will be great. Love to all Val >>
