Answer to prayer

I woke up this morning to find out that the pipes under my house were

frozen. I had no running water. I didn't know if the pipes were just

frozen or if they had burst during the night.

I immediately prayed to Amma "Mother, if there is anything you can do

to fix this situation, please do. You know that I have limited

finances and plumbers are very expensive. Please do what is best."

I turned the heat up and opened up all the cabinets. I had heard

somewhere that the heat will go to the pipes. I then relaxed and did

my morning sadhana.

I called the mobile home park caretaker to ask for the name of a

reliable plumber but only got an answering machine. I went out on my

porch to see if his car was there. His wife had just driven up. I

called out to her and told her what had happened. She told me to wait

for him to check it out and not to call a plumber.

This was unusual because the park rules are that the caretaker and the

park management are only responsible for problems outside. Anything in

or under your mobile home are your responsibility.

The next thing I knew the caretaker was on the phone telling me to try

my water. He had unfrozen the pipes. He kept on apologizing and

taking full responsibility. He said that he had worked on the pipes

once when I wasn't home and that he hadn't wrapped the pipes thoroughly

enough. He actually woke up last night worrying that my pipes would

freeze.

So (for no cost) he defrosted the pipes and added more layers of

wrapping so this problem will not reoccur.

If you knew this man, he never takes on extra work or admits any

mistakes or responsibilities for error. He never offers to help with

problems which are not specifically the responsibility of the Park.

I think he apologized at least four times. I just kept on thanking him

over and over.

Then I looked at my murti of Ammachi. She was smiling and radiating

and "saying" don't worry darling daughter, I will always take care of

you.
