Guest guest
I'm looking to form a chanting group for learning and chanting the Lalita Sahasranaam and also the Mahishaasura Stotram on a regular or semi-regular basis in the Washington DC area. I know how much most devotees prefer an informal laid-back atmosphere, so the meetings would be split into an informal session focusing on a set of mantras repeated over and over to assist learning and a more formal chanting of the entire LS in either list or song form (preceded by 5-step puja). This way there's both karmic/grace benefit from complete chanting, while helping those interested in learning the LS. You can choose to attend both halves or just one. For those not familiar with it, the LS takes DELIBERATE EFFORT to learn and be comfortable with the many mantras. The "greatest" benefit is gained from complete chanting on a regular basis versus just listening to it, or chanting parts. Mental fatigue (and boredom) in the learning stages is common and expected. The list form can easily take an hour to complete and the song form 30-45 minutes completely, all depending on speed. Anyone interested please email me. This group would be independent of the formal Amma-MAC organization. Members don't have to have Ammachi as their guru, but participation would be expected rather than someone attending for the meditative atmosphere. If there's enough interest in extras, we can add a simple Devi Puja, and practice other common prayers (mangalam, etc.) and maybe the song Amma Amma Taye, since it's long and difficult for many, but enjoyable to most. For a list of learning materials available by the various organizations, check out the Chantingdevi . Please forward this to anyone you know who might be interested. tom
