Guest guest
Namaste Linda, In view of your innocent approach to everyone( trying to see only the good in everyone ), perhaps a few words with the following cautions are in order : 1) Ravi Shankar’s popular pranayama technique involves some intense breathing; one FAVORABLE study mentioned HYPERVENTILATION. Please correct this if someone has more accurate info. 2) Like Rick already said that MMY said “it’s sugar-coated poison” referring to this technique. Not that I believe everything MMY says anymore. 3) Amma said( in general ) that intense pranayama techniques can injure the digestion; these should only be undertaken under CLOSE GUIDANCE( in residence ? ) by a competent spiritual teacher( SatGuru ? ). None of Amma’s techniques, so far that I know, involve intense pranayama. 4) Some other source implied that powerful pranayama techniques are not appropriate for these times of air pollution, etc. But, perhaps there are exceptions ? 5) On the positive side, a friend of mine enjoyed a week of PANCHAKARMA at Ravi’s Art of Living Clinic in Canada at more reasonable prices than USA. But of course, the most reasonable prices are in India. Hope this helps. Personally I try to play it safe and be careful. Amma once told me “be careful.” Amma’s Blessings and Guidance, amarnath The breath of course is very powerful and Amma wants us to be very gentle with it. Here is my offering to Amma( or is it Amma’s gift to me/us ? ) ~ O Holy Breath by which God’s Spirit flows Filling us with Love and Life Thanks be to Brahma the Creator for the inhalation Creating thought~body~world Thanks be to Vishu the Sustainer for the pause after inhalation Maintaining creation as innumerable beautiful forms All forms are beautiful in God’s eyes ~ But are not meant to be permanent Thanks be to Siva the Destroyer for the exhalation Allowing us to let go of all enchantment to created forms Allowing us to return to the Source Thanks be to Absolute Stillness for the pause after exhalation Allowing us to rest in the Lap of the Cosmic Divine Mother For an eternity in the ever~present~now Thanks be to the Divine Mother in the form of my Amma Whose Sacred Word whispered in my ear Is the seed essence of Amma’s Divinity Planted deep within my heart Thanks be to my Inner Divine Mother and Inner Guide For inspiring me to conscious effort with my lips, my mind, my heart To continuously repeat my Sacred Word Thanks be to Grace which purifies thought~body~world By Holy Breath and Sacred Word ~ amarnath 04/20/2005 What are the most popular cars? Guest guest
Recently, it was pointed out to me again in a different context that our breathing is automatic. We cannot will to stop breathing. If we try, we will pass out, at which point our breathing will start again. In short, God breathes for us, you could say. So in various meditation techniques, when you watch your breathing, you are watching God sustaining your life, as God has been ding since God breathed your first breath. As usual, I love your prayer, Amarnath-- > O Holy Breath by which God's Spirit flows > Filling us with Love and Life > > Thanks be to Brahma the Creator for the inhalation > Creating thought~body~world > > Thanks be to Vishu the Sustainer for the pause after inhalation > Maintaining creation as innumerable beautiful forms > All forms are beautiful in God's eyes ~ > But are not meant to be permanent > > Thanks be to Siva the Destroyer for the exhalation > Allowing us to let go of all enchantment to created forms > Allowing us to return to the Source > > Thanks be to Absolute Stillness for the pause after exhalation > Allowing us to rest in the Lap of the Cosmic Divine Mother > For an eternity in the ever~present~now > > Thanks be to the Divine Mother in the form of my Amma > Whose Sacred Word whispered in my ear > Is the seed essence of Amma's Divinity > Planted deep within my heart > > Thanks be to my Inner Divine Mother and Inner Guide > For inspiring me to conscious effort with my lips, my mind, my heart > To continuously repeat my Sacred Word > > Thanks be to Grace which purifies thought~body~world > By Holy Breath and Sacred Word > > ~ amarnath 04/20/2005 Aikya Ammachi, anatol <anatol_zinc wrote: > > Namaste Linda, > > In view of your innocent approach to everyone( trying to see only the good in everyone ), > perhaps a few words with the following cautions are in order : > > 1) Ravi Shankar's popular pranayama technique involves some intense breathing; one FAVORABLE study mentioned HYPERVENTILATION.
