Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span? 17 Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them. 18 If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith? So do not worry and say, 'What are we to eat?' or 'What are we to drink?' or 'What are we to wear?' All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness, 19 and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own problems. ~ Jesus Christ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~my comments below ~ Having contemplated Christ's words above for some time, it seems that Christ's advice "not to worry" is really the same as Amma saying that the CONTINOUS STREAM OF THOUGHTS IN THE HEAD need to be controlled and eventually done away with. Because, imho, as long as we have thoughts it is not possible not to worry unless we replace thoughts with mantra( god's name ), honor the silence( between thoughts, etc ), meditate, watch breath, do good deeds, sing devotional songs, serve the poor, help others, do positive affirmations, pray, praise God, etc . I would appreciate other suggestions or comments. A friend of mine told me that the egoic mind of thoughts (in and of itself) is not capable of love, compassion, gratitude, acceptance, sacrifice, unselfishness. If so, then where does love, compassion, gratitude, acceptance, sacrifice, unselfishness come from ? Christ's and Amma's Peace and Love to all, amarnath PS ~ my brother-in-law's sister is a born-again-christian; after many years now, she still does not believe when i tell her how much i love Jesus and have seen Him in my spiritual heart.
