Guest guest
i was attacked today two blocks from my house by a drunk homeless guy. it was 3 o'clock, broad daylight on a busy street in front of a church. i live in san francisco. nice part of town. I was walking up the street and saw this guy who was so drunk he couldn't walk straight so i stayed to the side of the sidewalk, he suddenly dropped his bottle and came toward me, i said NO (i read this somewhere), he grabbed me holding me and i started screaming help me or something and flailing my arms and running away, the guy chased me for about a block and then gave up...no one around did anything...afterwards a guy pulled up in a car and said he saw the whole thing and we called the police, who were really nice...we never found him. the police said this type of thing happens all the time, the officer said that he and his partner worked in homeless outreach and, "those crackheads dont want help" so he went back to being a cop... so please be safe, you never know what the f* crazy violent people are walking the streets, in the middle of the day. don't let any stranger get too close to you physically, be on guard and... and if you have to, scream, make a fuss, get attention...in my case it startled and confused the guy i found this website...it says "Noise is always the first form of self defense. Be loud. Be very loud. Scream your ever loving head off!!! Then scream louder!! If the attack continues never ever stop screaming." http://personalsafety.askacop.org/selfdefenseteens.html it's hard to find meaning in all of this, i feel afraid, afterwards i just felt so shocked, it was 3 o clock a sunny san francisco day and i was going to go to a coffee shop and this happened out of nowhere afterwards i was just shocked like, i cant belive that just happened... i have a very dear friend who came over and spent time with me and said, i'm glad you were able to have the lesson whatever it is without actually being hurt...i am fine, thank God, i wanted to share this with you all perhaps as a preventative measure..please send a little prayer, be safe, Amma bless, love, Dana -- "Love and beauty are within you. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya dear Dana. I¹m so sorry you were attacked and give thanks that you were able to use your voice werenot physically harmed, by Amma¹s grace. Please pay attention to any signs of post traumatic stress (which can often show up later, as you move out of shock; can even pop up on the anniversary, or be triggered expectedly). Shall we put your name on the prayer list for rapid healing? other ideas: take a self defense course for women who have been attacked. Use Rescue Remedy (a homeopathic remedy) if you experience panic attacks. Find local resources for coping with the aftermath (in Madison we have a 24 hour Rape Crisis Line to help people cope). Again, I¹m so sorry. May all fear be cleared so that you can be in love and trust, by Amma¹s grace. May you feel Amma¹s arms around you protecting you. May you gain insight into why this occurred, from a spiritual standpoint. Amme Sharanam, premarupa
Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Dana, I'm very sorry abut your attack. I was attacked twice. The first time I really thought the guy was going to kill me and it really traumatized me. I think I had post traumatic stress disorder for quite a long time after that and didn't even know it . I never discussed it in therapy, even though I discussed many other matters, because - well, I just don't know why. All I know is that it really messed me up for quite a while and I did things I wouldn't normally do during that time. The second time was in downtown SF. I was going up the steps of the Stockton tunnel and just before I got to the top a drunk grabbed me. It all happened so fast - within a few seconds - a group of people were making a lot of noise going down the steps and the guy ran off. I was so shocked by the whole thing I just stood there in disbelief. After that I was really careful to not put myself in that position - being somewhere alone with no other people around - which was not your case. Thanks for the information. Ask Mother to help you get over the shock. It's awful being so shook up, and if it stays with you it's awful to live with. I'll keep you in my prayers. Feel Mother's arms around you always.
