Guest guest
Amarnath: Here is one such routine containing several steps from the hooded swami: 1) Bow down ~ Amma always bows down to honor the earth where She will sit as well as bowing down to the Divine within each one of us <snip> I added the bowing down part. The swami did not mention it, but normally it would be part of such a routine. If you can bow down physically it feels very good and is a practice of surrender( letting go ) and humility. You can also bow down mentally if not possible to do it physically. ----------------------- Initially, I had a great deal of difficulty with the bowing down. Then, I realized that this gesture is not symbolic of a Master/slave relationship. It is one of Love and Gratitude. In essence, we are bowing to Ourselves. Guest guest
Spiritual Practices( sorry i'm a little late on this topic ) Amma and Her Swamis/nis have given us many many ways to do spiritual practices. Here is one such routine containing several steps from the hooded swami: 1) Bow down ~ Amma always bows down to honor the earth where She will sit as well as bowing down to the Divine within each one of us 2) 108 Names of Amma ~ either chant or listen to CD ~ bow down at end 3) Japa ~ repeat mantra Amma gave you with a mala( 108 times ) 4) Ma/Om ~ do 18 times with the breath 5) Do OM three times 6) Meditate on Silence for 5 to 30 minutes depending on your comfort 7) Do corpse pose and rest for 5 minutes ~ allow energy vibrations to balance out, soothe and heal the body I added the bowing down part. The swami did not mention it, but normally it would be part of such a routine. If you can bow down physically it feels very good and is a practice of surrender( letting go ) and humility. You can also bow down mentally if not possible to do it physically. Any one of the steps can also be done separately. And many of Amma's devotees devise their own routines. While Amma emphasizes Seva a lot, She also recommends spiritual practices for many of us who may need to get healthier and stronger. Amma told Her swamis/nis that they need to gain spiritual strength so that they will not collapse in undertaking the burdens of the world. Enjoy with Amma's Blessings, amarnath may all beings everywhere be happy and peaceful !
