Spiritually advanced???----we need balance: Seva

Amma wants us to be balanced...and sometimes that balance has to do

with dealing with and serving others. I know that personally Amma

pushed me out of meditation(I love to do around Amma) and got me

into doing seva, a type of seva which had to do with heavy amounts

of communication and dealing with other people's needs.

Sitting in silence is very very good, but serving others in a social

capacity (this can take many forms) is NOT INFERIOR. Look at Amma's

example. Amma had me dealing with many people at the programs and

some were border line homeless folks who most everyone was ignoring.

The grace I got from serving these folks was so so strong. That is

how I gauge wether or not Im listening to Amma's guidance for me.

The concept that silent meditating loaners are somehow more

spiritually advanced is just another way that the mind judges

others, and people who isolate themselves are frequently imbalanced.

Balance is the key. I can tell you personally that my most profound

connections to Amma have occurred while doing heavy social contact

seva.

The spiritual stereotypes we create amazes me. We are fortunate

enought to witness Amma's embrace of the masses and we say that the

people coming are not advanced etc. This to me is a real mistake and

shows that people are squandering the opportunity that Amma is

providing for us. The spiritual growth available for us at Amma's

gatherings is unequaled.

Meditation is for beginners around Amma. She has a far more advanced

course for us: surrendering to her Love by serving others and seeing

everyone as God. You will find your weak spots so much more quickly

than meditating in isolation. Of course people are not angels. That

is the challenge for us. Remaining a balanced and strong as an

example as well as in service especially with those of us devotees

who aren't "advanced". These are all aspects of our own minds.
