It is interesting what you say about the difference in generations and, I would add, the disappearance of the "extended family." Our children's generation may be the first to have a widespread experience of this, although, I'm sure that their are some families that maintain this family network. The isolation of the nuclear family from the extended, I believe, is part of what makes child abuse so difficult to identify. (And if anyone can remember the name of that little girl in NY who was recently found dead, with many abuse injuries, please send it to me so I can add her to the prayer list.) Wow ... I wrote a lot more about this, but when I got to the end, I realized I had broken my sankalpa to not speak negatively of my parents.
