Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, I have a question about the use of talismans/tatoos to promote mindfulness of Amma. I am a new child and have become quite intentional with my time and energy, but frankly I still spend large chunks of time in a state of forgetfulness. As a reminder, I thought a small Om tattoo on my forearm would do nicely to help keep me in a state of readiness and intentional love. What is the view of this here? I've meditated and think my motive for this is fairly pure, but I'm not certain if I've judged myself correctly. Also, importantly, I'm not clear if this sacred Hindu symbol can be worn without the ill-effects of ostentation, intended or not. I suppose the fact I am worrying about this says a lot, but I am very interested in the observations/experiences of others as my opinion about this strenthens. Amma, so far, has been silent on the matter. Jai Ma Caleb
Guest guest
Namah Shivayah, I have a rather large tattoo on the back of my neck that reads "Amma". It is two hearts clasped together with a ring and some purple flowers, and beneath the image is Amma's name. I got the tattoo while in the process of removing a tattoo that I got with anothers name on it. The relationship ended, and I wanted the tattoo gone...but I decided to change it alltogether and have Amma's name instead. It felt strongly that I wanted the name of my Guru etched into my skin for the rest of this lifetime, since it is the deepest and most pure relationship and heart-soul bond I will ever experience. While I was having the tattoo done, I remembered that 3 years prior, Amma came to me in a dream, and pointed out that I would have her name on the back of my neck in the future. I consider my Amma tattoo a devotional act and commitment that I will carry with me forever. I would imagine that the most important thing with something like this is the intent in which it is done. Amma knows our hearts. Jai Ma! Guest guest
Namaste Caleb, I’m not sure what others think, nor what Amma has said/thinks on the subject of tattoos. But one of my next tattoos I am planning on is also an OM design on the back of my neck/upper back area. As of right now, I have two tattoos. One of them I am getting redone soon, to add more detail and elements to it. (It’s currently an Aztec-styled sun, and I will be adding minor additions to the design, along with my grandfather’s name above, and my son’s name below. Thereafter, I will get a moon in the same design-style on my opposite shoulder, with my grandmother’s and daughter’s names. My grandparents are deceased, and I love them with all of my heart, and of course the same goes for my children. It’s my way of memorializing them and a sweet reminder of the loves of my life.) I’ve mentioned the OM tattoo above, but I also plan on getting a quite large tattoo taking up most of my back. I’ve not quite finished designing this one, but it will certainly have a lotus flower, Ma Kali, and other various elements pertaining to Hinduism. I’ve always loved tattoos, and I enjoy having reminders of my journeys, growth, and experiences on my skin as reminders for me. I wish you well and bid you peace in your journeys. Whatever decision you choose should feel right in your heart and in your mind. Jai Ma! ¸..• ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.•´ .•´¨¨)) ((¸¸.•´ ..•´ -:¦:- ..::Brightest Blessings::.. -:¦:- ((¸¸.•´.¸..•` ..::Bela::.. Guest guest
AMMAs son beleives that what is important is the INTENTION of our hearts, however no one can tell you what your intention and motive is .THAT IS BETWEEN YOU AND AMMA.it your motive PURE AND INNOCENT?THAT IS THE QUESTION TO CONTEMPLATE. >"cal_ewing" <cal_ewing >Ammachi >Ammachi > mindfulness/Om tattoo >Sun, 15 Jan 2006 21:27:14 -0000 > > >Namah Shivaya, > >I have a question about the use of talismans/tatoos to promote >mindfulness of Amma.
