Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya: Dear Kalika: I enjoy your posts too. You have a refreshing spirit IMHO. We can share ideas here. Sometimes I take a minority view. Kalika wrote: "it is ok too to have fun and be social at the programs." I agree it is okay. My concern is if it is the optimal use of my time at programs. I love the spiritu-social vibe as much as anyone. If I see a devotee from another State or nation that I have missed for six months I want to chat. Big Swami called this the "talking vasana" Is it helpful to take inventory as well? WHY AM I HERE? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR MY BEING IN THIS NOISY CLAUSTROPHOBIC FACILITY WITH POOR REST ROOMS. Could I better serve my personal growth by doing more Seva or chit chatting? Do I want to gossip in the presence of one who is Infinitely discreet. Do you see Amma's Swami's and Brahmacharini's socializing much? Do we see the devotee STAFF endlessly gabbing? Why am I here? What for? I am not saying one should not enjoy the social scene during program. It is necessary because we are human and that is how humans conduct themselves. However the need here is to Realize God (Your Own Self) Eat drink chai, and chat merrily but be aware of the trade-off.
