Dear Keval and all ~ I, like many of my generation (I suspect I am a bit older than most here), was surrounded by pot smoking friends. I tried it, but after one or two tries, I quite because it hurt my throat and made me cough a lot. I also had several encounters with psychedelics. My first "trip" was wonderful, but not that different from my own experiences that I had already been having on my own, just ratched up a notch or two. But each one was successively worse in terms of context, surroundings, etc., and I would get very frightened, so I quit that stuff pretty fast. No one responded to what I posted about the medical use of marijuana ... but I have used it in this way. Sometimes, due to my illness, I am too nauseated and too bloated to feel like eating. Because of this, I lost a lot of weight much too quickly. So sometimes this little plant makes it possible for me to feed this body. Some states have passed laws allowing the medical use of marijuana ~ California, Oregon, and more recently, I believe, Rhode Island. However, it is unfortunate that these state laws are pre-empted by federal law, and so even in these states there have been "stings." In California, a few years ago, two women were busted. They ran a hospice like dwelling, specifically for people with AIDs and other illnesses, to be able to come and find some relief through marijuana (their facility was not a full-time one oriented to people close to death). I'm not sure what happened to them, except that a short time later, I read they were still running their facility. I also think it's quite a shame that our drug fearing elected officials are so blinded by their single-minded stance against marijuana, that even growing hemp for other purposes is not allowed. This is sad because it could save a lot of trees. I have to admit I was somewhat astonished to learn of the "bhang puffing sadhus."
