Dear Aikya ~ done ... and I have noted to leave her on for the full quarter.

This happened to my mother, for years her white blood cell count kept

dropping and dropping (not sure if this is the same as platelets, though). She

was

being seen by an oncologist for many years, but he couldn't find any reason

for it (eventually, he did discover that she had an enlarged spleen). At one

point she had surgery, and during the surgery, discovered that my mother had

hepatitis of the liver. She has never been a drinker, so the surgeon and

doctor concluded that she must have unknowingly had hepatitis. When she was

tested, the tests were positive.

 

So she has lived with that for seven or eight years now. They did not take

out her spleen because of her age and because of discovering the hepatitis,

which explained the blood count. It's possible something similar could have

happened with Priya. My mother's doctors did not even think to check for other

medical issues. They just jumped to a conclusion.
